Pyro X Posted April 23, 2012 Share Posted April 23, 2012 I'm looking at adding some dreadnought support to my deathwing list from IA. I picked up a new Contemptor and the old chuck version. I'm going to make the Contemptor into the Mortis pattern and I'm not sure about the chuck. anyhow, I think they were used during the crusades so that means they would be painted black correct? EPK Posted April 23, 2012 Share Posted April 23, 2012 Well, they would be painted black if you were forming an army from the crusade-pre heresy era. Otherwise, regardless of the age, they would be painted green of the battle companies or bone of the 1st Co. Of course it's your army and you are free to paint as you please and I'm sure you could come up with a fluffy reason why they are still black. As for how to equip, what sort of list are you running with the rest of your army? I'm looking at dropping the predators and maybe land speeders for them. may even run the land raider ares in there also. EPK Posted April 23, 2012 Share Posted April 23, 2012 Well the FAQ from last year makes TH/SS very good actually, now up to par with vanilla. It also made CML cheap 2 shots and worth taking in many cases over assault cannons, helping you take care of armor a little better. I suppose the standard assault cannon/DCCW would work fine for the Chuck to help thin infantry and tie things up in combat since the Mortis will already be slinging heavy weapons fire down field. Brother Kovash Posted April 26, 2012 Share Posted April 26, 2012 One point to consider, if you want to make sure your dread gets into the action exactly where you want it, I recommend a Drop Pod for transport. I've been using one to make sure my dreadnought gets in the middle of it all as soon as he comes in from reserve, so he can do the most damage. And I know our Drop Pod costs too much compared to our cousins, but I've felt it was the best way to ensure my revered dreadnought gets stuck in the middle of things and has a chance to shine.
