MeatGrinder
I was curious which of the raider variants work best in the current metagame. What I'm looking for is a variant to transport BC with a WP alongside 2 rhinos, 2 razors with GH. I have a pair of LF squads to compliment any raider I take. Personally the redeemer appeals to me most with its horrifyingly powerful templates, but I'm curious as to what the rest of the fang feilds. toonarmy
I am in 2 minds. I think the redeemer is sickening if you can get it into range. the best thing about the crusader though is you can always fire those sponsons due to them being counted as defensive weapons. My favourite variant is in IA2 as this land raider is immune to the effects of melta and lance weapons. it is 50 ish points more expensive but in my eyes worth every penny! Grey Mage
For bloodclaws? And a priest? A Crusader. Nothing better. Nothing else can you field a full squad. Its got more firepower than the redeemer and at better range. Sure, its not as potentially effective as the AP 3 flamers, but on the other hand its harder to neutralize because of the range. Firepower equal to a fully equiped GH squad for about the same price and transport capacity enough for the largest squad we have? I signed up for one immediately, and Ive yet to regret it. Gideon999
Same here, crusader all the way. Being able to fit 16 models means a complete blood claw pack with leader is safe inside and you can move it 6" and fire every dang gun on the thing at once. I even take a pintle storm bolter on mine just for max bolter shot goodness. Inside 12" I get: 4 TL Assault Cannon Shots 1 Multimelta Shot 12 TL Boltgun Shots 2 Storm Bolter Shots 19 shots total, per turn, in addition to holding a butt load of bloodthirsty warriors inside! With frag assault launchers standard there is nothing bad to be found there. May not have the sheer power armour melting force of the redeemer, but usually gets to fire more and force so many saves that you will potentially kill just as many with it. spjaco
Heck If your points are going to be high enough take two blood claw packs, each with a wolf guard, one redeemer and one crusader, then build the rest of your army around that! The Crusader has the long range punch and the Redeemer takes the in close fight to the next level. Simo429
If its for a friendly game go with the achilles, love the model and the rule set. Watch them shoot and entire army at it and keep rolling forward Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/251307-preferred-raider-variant/#findComment-3048143 Share on other sites

This is the correct answer :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/251307-preferred-raider-variant/#findComment-3049510 Share on other sites
Freman Bloodglaive
Although I've never assembled mine I have to concur. The Crusader is the best variant. That's why it has the highest price.
