Blue-ish Angels

As I said in my post, they look good, all the power to him, but they are not Dark Angels.

 

It's his DA army – he can paint them how he likes. Besides what is "correct" DA green hmmmmm? I see many varieties here. A slightly bluer version is not really a major issue I don't think.

I'm torn.

I really like the look of the bluish armour and bone robes, but it SCREAMS librarian to me.

The armour would have to go a long way towards grey and the robes a long way away from yellow to make me think otherwise.

And of course, too far and you're starting to look like medieval Knights Templar.

 

Like you I love the robed minis, my son's Carcharodons counts as Dark Angels will also have all PA members in robes.

I'm struggling to combine the command squad's apothecary torso with the robed body, though, so he might be an exception.

Probably going to go with reddish robes - think less shiny Guardians of the Covenant.

 

Anyway, thanks for posting, lots of people talk a good game (myself included), but those that actually put up pictures provide genuine inspiration.

One question to everyone saying that Green doesn't equal Dark Angels, correct me if I am wrong, but the Deathwing and the Ravenwing aren't Dark Angels since they aren't green are they? :P

ahh but salamanders are angels? i say paint em whatever you like ive drawn up at least a dozen ideas for a DA successor and i think ony one had a large amount of green

Personally, I'd go for either green, or black (pre-heresy).

With the Deathwing having only a single squad of Ash/Bone-coloured armour (as per original story, iirc).

As for libbies/etc. I'd only go as far as the pauldrons, knee pad, and the helmet/psychic hood.

 

Free for all for successors, imo.

First thing I thought of was Space Wolves. Looked a bit to greyish blue that SW have. Other than that, I think it looks good and can become awsome with the detailing.

 

Also where does DA = DA Green? They were black with a red stripe (or was it red helmet?) in RT so DA never started DA Green in the year 40 000. So if you want to go by how it started, it's safe to say anthying not in Black =/= DA then since there is no "Official" reason as to why DA are DA Green now (or would that be Caliban Green now ;)?)

 

Funny when I google DA, I see, black, white (or bone white) and DA Green minis for DA. So does that mean Black on DA (Ravenwing) or Bonewhite (Deathwing) are not DA since they are not in DA Green then?
