T0MMY
Hi all Been a member a while but first time I've actually posted any mini pics - I'm generally aiming for table-top quality (I'm never gunna be a golden demon contender!!). Having said that, I haven't actually played for years, more of a 'part-time painter never finishing anything' kinda guy. Anyway, I thought I'd post a couple of my Vanguard, just because. I have half a Tac squad, half a dev squad, half a sternguard and half a scout squad also finished so figured perfect time to start my command squad :P Ok pics: http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s301/llltomlll/IMG_7716.jpg http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s301/llltomlll/IMG_7718.jpg http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s301/llltomlll/IMG_7722.jpg Thunderhammer guy http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s301/llltomlll/IMG_7724.jpg http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s301/llltomlll/IMG_7725.jpg http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s301/llltomlll/IMG_7726.jpg and powersword guy (PIP) I'm mostly enjoy the modelling side of things, hence a few minor mods, such as the bird-like helmets and thunderhammer. So let me know your thoughts if you like. Cheers Tom
Brother Alucard
Looks good. Might I suggest you thin your paints a little and use washes.
Lestat
Are you using a black undercoat? If so, I would suggest either changing to a white one or using a grey basecoat before your blue/white layer.
Kurgan the Lurker
You can do blue/white over black you just have to build the layers up. It is how I did the Iron Cranes: http://www.duckblindminiatures.com/images/ironcrane/iclib1-1.jpg This is all ove a black primer and you can alter the mix ratios depending on how many layers you want. GW Space Wolf Grey GW Ghost Grey 2 parts Ghost Grey/1 part GW Skull White 1 part Ghost Grey/1 part Skull White 1 part Ghost Grey/2 parts Skull White now you can stop there if you want or go to a straight Skull White line highlight for the final touch. T0MMY
Thanks guys + for the recipy Kurgan; I always love looking at your mini's I'm actually using white undercoat - hopefully they don't look quite so "blobby" in real life as they do in the pics. The gold on the helmets is a little thick maybe, but my greenstuffing beneath isn't the greatest so probably doesn't help. I build up both the white and blue in washes, but I admit I do only use skull white + enchanted blue with a black wash added after. Not very skillful I admit, but if you painted as slow as I do... Anyway, thanks for the tips.
