Biohazard, Post 1 - WIP Star Phantoms

Ive always wanted to build myslef a Chaplain but have never gotten round to it. Now I have the perfect excuse I started mocking one up this morning, Im also going to try and have a 5 man Sternguard squad finished by the end of this month.

@ biohazard, that chaplain looks great!! i recognise most of the parts but are the skulls 3rd party? they look good.

@apologist, youre in!! well take submissions until the end of May as long as youve posted AT LEAST 1 unit of any type., and after that with a general consensus. Epic scale would be great,e specially if it represents the badab war contingent!.

These chaps have been lingering without detail for quite some time. A great chance to finish 'em off.

[Apologies, afraid I don't know the BBCode for the black box heading style. Any techpriests fancy lending a hand?
+Edit+ Fixed, thanks to the ministrations of Biohazard and emperors immortals. Ta!]
Emperors immortals, The skulls on the backpack are from a seller on ebay. Really cheap resin ones. I think you get 20 for something like £2 posted.
o0..i remember youre WE log now! some very very very nice work in there i have got to say. Good thing there cheap, ill be sure to get several hundred - as my fav quote goes "everything in 40k runs on a mix of skulls, purity seals, promethium and screaming bald guys".

Cal585

I see no one has taken the Marines Errant yet. I'd be happy to give them a shot if you don't mind me using white rather than silver? (I've tried several silver schemes but they just don't work for me)

That would be absolutely great, weve now got one of each chapter!!! As far as im concerned, minor differences in painting schemes are welcome.

@apologist - there looking good man, and im hoping this thread will be a great chance for a lot of us to complete some of those projects weve got laying around, as a great man in another thread said "We all hoard. Dont judge me".

As for the coding, just quote this but remove the *'s and change the words as you see fit;

All right, I quit. Apologist has rolled in with his amazing actual-scale marines. I'm done. Haha, I kid.

Your marines are absolutely astounding though. I'm curious, have you used the Tartaros pattern legs to convert some of these guys up yet? I imagine it would be much easier than all the cutting and sculpting on regular Terminators, although slightly more expensive.

Hoping to get my sergeant undercoated and started today, photos if I make any significant progress. Also planning an apothecary/tactical marine conversion.

Biohazard, liking the chaplain there! Can't wait to see it with some paint on it.

decided to go for photobucket instead, loads faster at uploading.

Lorenzen, Post 2 - WIP command squad company champion

http://fc04.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2012/122/b/9/shanky_by_typhion-d4yc6m3.jpg

first member of the command squad to hit paint.. the others need a little more work before im happy to prime them. he's still pretty rough atm, only the head is really where it needs to be and that still needs touching up & having depth put into the lazyhawk everything else at this point is just base coat and wash.

the basics of this dude is that rather than a combat shield he prefers to use the same shank he's been using since scouthood and is an ex hive ganger to contrast with the captain and standard bearers noble upbringings.. hense the facial tattoos (which you'll have to make out through the glare) and funky hairstyle

I think for the most part im going to update my wip thread and post completed stuff here from now on.. otherwise im going to end up saturating the board with my crap. <_<

Great idea guys! I just need to work out who:

Lamenters - as I have two companies of BA, so they could fit in easy, but painting yellow sucks!

Raptors - gots lots of green paint! And I'm well over painting red. I like the Raptors squad from in Pt 1 too.

Sons of Medusa - as above, and I have too many termies as well, so the unit from Pt2 would be a perfect fit...

Gotta make my mind up! Lol

Excellent. Marines Errant it is. My first 40k force (having come from LotR)

Cal585 - Marines Errant Test Schemes

This was a little while ago when I was trying to determine whether to go silver or white.

http://i262.photobucket.com/albums/ii106/Cal585_GW/002-10.jpg

I prefer my white a lot better to the silver. Also, just putting it out there that these are only quick test marines who have only had one coat of colour or something, so I'm hoping my painting from here on in will be slightly higher quality :D

looking great guys, Lorenzen i looove the idea of a former ganger carrying his Astartes shank as a champion - epic!

really love the vibrancy in the colour matchbox, how did you get teh yellow so good? Is it gw paint?

@cal585, i think the blue and white looks by far better, your painting is absolutly fine BTW, and trust me no matter the quality its always nicer to face a painte army then the legion of sprue-gray! Besides unpainted minis refuse to win, IMHO :D

Im actually thinking of giving a box to the most improved painter/modeler at teh end of 4-5 months, nothing too fancy but a nice incentive, so ill ask for nomination after our first months over.

Good work guys and lets keep going!

Cal, I will second you on this one, the white looks much better than silver.

Sweet marine, Lorenzen, looks ace.

Everyone, lookin' good. Got the sergeant quite far along today, sadly, ran out of good painting/photographing light. I'll get a good WIP shot of him tomorrow and get it posted up. Looks much the same as my line marines, except I opted to give him slightly more highlighting ala a bit of edging with Chainmail, as he's something of a small character. Tomorrow is pretty much all detail work, and I hope to have him finished. Tonight, I'm working on another infantry marine, something of a brainchild of mine. Hope you guys will like the idea.

Cheers!

Alex

@emperor's Immortals, thanks for the comments and yes it's sunburst yellow, i wanted them to really stand out so i made it nice and bright XD

@cal585, i agree the white looks much nicer, i don't like silver as a main colour unless it's all silver, the metallic clashes with the matte, unless you know how to paint not metallic metals XD

Hey all. Fantastic work all around, guys!

I'm afraid to say that due to a huge implosion of real-life related reasons that have sprung up for me in the last few days, that I'm just going to be unable to participate. Apologies for seemingly wasting time, I hope you all have a blast with this project. I'll be sure to pop by and have a look as often as I can.. sorry again.
