TristanAquaeusRodentbane Posted June 7, 2012 Share Posted June 7, 2012 With a tad less on my plate overall this month I'm aiming to complete for my Carcharadon Astra; the other 5 men for my first tac squad, their drop pod, Tyberos the Red wake will get some touch ups, the 5 red brethren(scoring LC assault termies if you're not familiar with the term), and a storm talon. RagingChainsword, always appreciate the zeal you have for my mellow yellow mothers. If I now officially have a fan maybe I should make one of those films with a dodgy night vision effect in a hotel room.....or not. Will keep collecting though. This month I am not sure what I will do. I have a number of things going on: 2 Tac Squads, 1 Ass Squad and 'attack' bike squadron, finish the land raider, sanguinary guard...... Though I do have tons of stuff to start (I swear I have modelling ADHD as I can't stick to one thing): Tartaros Terminators, Mk 4 Assault Marines, buy a StormTalon and do my own conversion thread and make that ugly sucker fly... If my mind does not melt I will show you what I manage, though this is a busy month for me. Also, didn't realise you were posting here RedScorps. Honestly im doing this mostly too have an extra army for pick up games. For now i got to get my brothers Warhound finished and shipped before I start adding more. Jacobite Posted June 15, 2012 Share Posted June 15, 2012 Hi all Just thought I would chuck up some pictures of some Astral Claws I speed painted (for me anyway). These took me about 8-10 hours for 10 to do which is a lot better than the 30+ for 5 it usually takes me. The majority of the time was spent doing the freehand symbols on the shoulders. It didn't turn out amazing but its ok and its the first time I've tried to paint that symbol. I'm happy with the freehand on the banner though. I looked though my bits box and saw that I had enough parts (in varying condition of brand new to really old and need a lot of clean up) to through together another force and I also picked up some second hand minis. I thought stuff it, lets go Badab War! Astral Claws wise I've got a Centurion, a Corpsetaker and two servitors, 5 Retaliators and a Devastator plus some IG to turn into Tyrants Legion. I'm also going to do up a squad of Lamenters as Retaliators as well. Then there is the stuff I'm really excited about - a Death Wing Minotaurs army with FW Characters and shoulder pads. But thats only when I've done the Astral Claws and possibly the Lamenters. Tyrants legion will be after them. Anyway on to pictures: The Astral Claws are done to the same standard that I'm doing for my Crimson Fury bar highlighting (that takes far too long for me to do in a speed paint and I want to get these guys out quickly). What do you think? I'm not 100% happy with the Mantis Warriors in the assualt squad so I may go back and tidy them up a bit in the future. However I'm glad it brings a smile to some people that they are there. I plan on including at least one member from each Succesionist chapter in my army somewhere. Jacobite- Those Astral Claws are looking good, it's always good to see other sons of the Tyrant. If the numbers in this thread are anything to go by it's no wonder Frain had to use 13 chapters to put us down. ;) I know you've asked for C&C but I'm not sure what I could say, your speed painting looks better than my display standard tbh. Keep up the good work. RedScorps- It has been said before, that StormTalon looks great. Almost enough for me to add one to my collection, almost. ;) So onto my offer for this month. It's a fairly short month now, and very hectic (last two weeks of uni, far too much work to get done). AS such I'm going to have to make this a small one. Therefore I will complete: * 3 Objective Markers (A cop out I know but they have bits of Astral Claw all over them :D ). * Assemble a Razorback On the other hand I finished my Landspeeder a couple of days back I thought I'd pop it up as my "completed unit". In one in fated engagement it was recorded that the Creos accounted for one Predator and a Chaos Drednaught as well as landing a vital blow on the traitors' forward command centre, buying vital time for the injured body of Captain Dius to be recovered. I figured out how to use the IA 9 & 10 retcons and the new allies rules (I'll be using allied BA) to make some pretty cool stuff, so I salt weathered some termies to look as though they had repainted their Tiger Claws heraldry to blend in to Astral Claws units. Coming up soon: salt weathered Badab dudes! Apologies for my spaciness... but really, anyone who takes 4 years to paint an army...you should expect this kind of behavior haha!
