maverik_girl
Agreed, although Ulrik was but a Wolf Guard during the Armageddon campaign, he would have been a Wolf Priest already in the immediate aftermath. Even if he was newly elevated to the position, his actions on Armageddon, and the fact that he'd been a Space Wolf for longer than Logan Grimnar, combined with being a Wolf Priest, means Logan would listen. Now that's more like it! thank you. It's something more logical. Lord Ragnarok
Just finished this. As a GK and SW fan it was full of goodness. I am surprised how much SW presence was in the book. It is a worthy read for a SW fan despite the title. Its a shame Ulriks not mentioned and now bjorn talks everyone into peace so grimnar didn't listen for very long I wonder why ADB dropped him great book i would recommend it to any space wolf player. I could not go to bed a found myself up at 2am in the bath unable to escape till I had finished it Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/251585-emperors-gift-review/page/2/#findComment-3057368 Share on other sites

Also I loved the bit Where Bjorn turns to the Inquisitor, God Emperor, it was all that rubbish that started this mess in the first place I met him, he liked me, Inquisitors jaw hits the ground Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/251585-emperors-gift-review/page/2/#findComment-3057387 Share on other sites

Brother Captain Kezef
Wondering what book folks have been reading. There are exactly TWO, yup just TWO fights between Logan Grimnar and a Grey Knight. In the first, Logan one-shots a Grandmaster (which is hardly surprising since Logan is a chapter master with a reforged daemonblade while a Grandmaster is roughly equal to a captain). Logan's wolfguard shoot justicars to put the Grey Knights off balance and buy enough time to teleport out. Logan does NOT beat a hundred Grey Knights at all, he plays smart, makes his vengeance kill and gets out of dodge. The second fight only involves two Grey Knights and one of them manages to block and hold Logan long enough for Bjorn to show up and tell all involved to stand down. The book was great and showed the relevant natures of the Wolves, the Inquisition and the Grey Knights and shows how one deluded Inquisitor can screw things up. The original plan was for the hundred grey knights to make one, final blow and banish angron before getting out of the fight and allowing the Wolves to finish up. Minimising civilian exposure and the need for massive genocide. Then an inquisitor shows up and ruins it all. ADB's version of Bjorn is more Human and by being so the true curse of being entombed in a Dreadnought is more pronounced. Scyld Fireblade
The GK were created to stop daemonic incursions. The SW were created to exterminate traitor astartes (including nearly 3 entire legions; and thousands of other traitors in the heresy). Both GK and SW very resistant to Chaos. Plus SW fight a greater variety of foes, and thus have more experience. Somewhere it says there are 3000 GK. By my estimate the SW have a roughly equal number (Inquisitors are idiots, storm-troopers are mere men, and the SW once saw off 3 orders of SOB). I think it is a no-brainer that the SW would win a contest between the two. eyeslikethunder
TSomewhere it says there are 3000 GK. Wheres that from? Emperors gift states there are only 800 GK left after the war. That would be lot casualties....... Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/251585-emperors-gift-review/page/2/#findComment-3059997 Share on other sites

The Grey Knights where chapter strength, while some brotherhoods have more than a hundred the average strength of the chapter would not be much more than a thousand. Also it was NEVER about the Grey Knights against the Space Wolves, it was about an ultra-zealous Inquisitor dragging the Grey Knights into his vendetta. The largets strength on the Inquisition's side was the entire Red Hunters chapter at the end.
