True Scale 5th Company

OK so project after project seems to be falling by the wayside but finally, FINALLY I'm getting to make the true scale force I've always wanted.

Here's the plan

Master of the 5th (Orias I think)

Command Squad

Razorback

10 x Tactical

10 x Tactical

5 x Assault

5 X Deathwing

Dreadnought

All will be truescaled although I'm just using a Contemptor for the Dread.

Here are my first 5 efforts

And finally a scale shot

I'm really pleased with them so far, They have been painted using the new GW paints and I'm pretty pleased with the effect. I'm working hard on the other 5 from this squad and Master Orias himself.

C&C Welcome

Fantastic Angels Blade!

I especially like the freehand chapter icons/squad badges.

Did you make all your own studs? Are the flat ones just slices off a thin roll of greenstuff? I did this for my consecrator sarge's helmet - and just down the dorsal fin - I commend you on your patience with putting these all over if that its he case.

These are the same ones featured on Beasts of War? Jaw dropping then... and STILL jaw dropping. These caused a large flurry of e-mails between myself and my friends. I particularly love the robed sargeant.

Dude, if I ever meet you in real life, drinks are on me.

My choice would be green PA with dark red (keep well clear of blood red) shoulder plates and helmet - similar to my RW Storm Raven pilot.

He would not stand out too much but would still be identifiable as a Techmarine.

Just my 2 penny's worth :tu:

I think fluff-wise, it's mech red with the left shoulder in green + white icon... however, I think I might favor the opposite. Standard DA colors with the shoulder that bears the mech insignia in red.

So my choice is Standard DA colors with red right shoulder pad - perhaps other tech related gear has red accents (servo harness or what not)... when he visits Mars he puts on his full red garb of course.

I think your painting work is fantastic, you've done a smashing job on your minis! You an clearly do some awesome freehand, so, since these guys are green and therefore most likely post Heresy, are we going to see any aquilas on any of them?

I'm like Haelaeif, I'm not normally a fan of the true-scale, but I do have to give love to our Legion in any form.

I do have a question. If you are going to play with these, aren't you automatically at a disadvantage due to the sizes, or are you not going to game with these? Not that we aren't already at a disadvantage just using the DA codex right now anyway... Just seems like a waste to not play with great models, and I think if I played with you we'd have to talk about evening up the playing field so you weren't at a disadvantage (although I guess there could be advantages to larger models, but it seems like the drawbacks would outweigh them).

You are correct I am at a disadvantage using these in game (which I fully intend to do) Thankfully, I don't play to win I play for fun and I very rarely play against beardy or overetly competative people. We're all fairly story driven where I game.

As far as the techmarine goes I think I will go for mech red and keep to the fluff despite messing up the tactical Icon and going vertical instead of horizontal. I did some work on the Dread last night so I'm expecting to finish him by Sunday then I can crack on with finishing the squad. The first game I play with them will be movie marines vs nids so they really need to be massive!
