13th company help required

Recommended Posts

Over at the 13th company subforums we are at work with a 13th co codex, and right now we have a small issue that requires some voting from others (we assume not many have taken a look recently)

link to the project.

13th company

The issue is as follows.

What makes Wulfen troops/scoring:

We have 2 options and we want to include 1 of them.

A Wolf Jarl (renamed version of Wolflord) with mark of the Wulfen makes Wulfen troops.

A Wolf Priest with the Warden of the Lost upgrade makes wulfen scoring units.

just give youre thoughts about this.

And feel free to comment on other things about the project.

A Wolf Priest with the Warden of the Lost upgrade makes wulfen scoring units. <--- Similar to how the BA chaplains keep their "fallen" in check.

A Wolf Jarl (renamed version of Wolflord) with mark of the Wulfen makes Wulfen troops. <-- Could work but you limit what the Jarl can use.

Why not make an entirely new IC type .. something along the lines of a beastmaster type of IC who have an element of control over the Wulfen unit. Similar to how CSW uses wolf guard as pack upgrades.

The IC would be an option that could be brought for a particular wulfen unit that while he is alive he grants that unit the troop special rule. He would need to be targeted like an IC but not be able to leave the squad ever.

As you may recall, for my version of the 13th Company, I implemented it as a new Saga which would be only available as a Wolf Lord option:

Saga of the Wulfen King: Taking this Saga grants the Wolf Lord +D3 Attacks (rolled for at each close combat phase), and allows Wulfen Packs to be taken as Troops Choices. (35 points).

Although there is fluff merit to going with a Wolf Priest/Warden of the Lost option, the above direction is more in keeping with the old published 13th Company army list from EOT.

If you feel like it we would appreciate youre input in the current one, would be nice if a 13th co project would be finished for once.

What rules are you using for the Wulfen Troop Models?

Have you considered using Cyberwolves as a base?

WS - 4

BS - 0

S - 4

T - 4

W -1

I - 4

A - 3

Ld - 6

Sv - 4+

Then they would be 16pts per model Give them Rending so make it a round 20pts per model?

Spacefrisian's Saga seems pretty good to get them at troops.

Then maybe give the Warden of the Lost the ability to take a Special rule similar to the Saga of Wolfikin which gives all Wulfen Packs within 6" LD - 7 and I5. Say for 15pts?

Just thought i'd throw some ideas into the pot :cuss

Are you counting the wulfen models as scoring?

that's a great idea. I've just made 20 wulfen for the Sternhammer's Wulfen Guard for Apoc, but given the number of wolves I have I'm going to turn it into a sub-army of 13th Company, gives me and excuse for some monster Wulfen lords/priests!

Loving the 13th Codex project mate, I'll be watching that thread with interest, thanks!

Feel free to hop over to the 13th company project, it will tell you all what we have been working on thus far, that includes our version of the Wulfen.

We dont use Cyberwolves, just the regular Fenrisian Wolves. I did put up a ghost wolf variation up but i havent heard much feedback about that from the others.

The wolf priest rule works better, and i believe thats how it worked in the Eye of Terror Codex

Negative, as I mentioned above it was the Wolf Lord with Mark of the Wulfen that made Wulfen into Troops choices in the EOT Codex.

Now, whether y'all want to stick with that in your new project is another debate, but my Fandex was created in a way to stay as consistent as possible with the old army list, while still updating it for 5th Edition.

On a side note, I've always been just using your Fandex on friendly games. I've had no issues with it. In my opinion, your Fandex is pretty much solid. People tend to go overboard with the rules and try to one-up with the newer codexes out there. But keeping it real and close to the original and our own updated/current codex is the smartest route.

Hey, thanks for the feedback, Mav Girl. I'm glad you've been able to use it, as I didn't know anyone had/was. I just did it for the fun of it, but it is nice know it is well received.
