A very entertaining read, Namine!

It sounds like you had a very fun first game. Congratulations...doubly so because of the win! ;)

I hope we'll see more of Master Sellendar in the future.

Looking back at the game is there anything you think you should have done differently?

One thing that comes to mind, after reading the report, is that perhaps you could have put the whirlwind fully out of sight behind the scouts' building, as -if I remember correctly- they can fire indirectly (without line of sight to their target).

Definately, I would move the whirlwind out of sight of the Leman Russ since I never really got a chance to use it! That was a mistake on my part since I had hoped it would be in cover, but it wasn't. ;) I had wanted to be in Line of sight of the Penal Legionnaires because I was worried about scatter on such a large template and board... though I paid for being conservative.

The Chimera was a problem and it would have been nice to have had something else to take it on with; had I been able to clear that before Sellendar got hit then the Leman Russ would have been in trouble! Unfortunately I do not know where I would get the points for it, short of ditching the whirlwind for some other vehicle/troops.

Also apparantly there is a few rule mistakes... apologies for that! I was kinda running on faith that my opponant would steer us straight (and as I forgot to take photos [stupid since I had the camera] I'm sure I'm remembering a few tiny details wrong).

Thanks for reading!

Hey man great maps and great battle report, looks like you really put some time into that. I really like your effect on the shooting by the master of the forge. All the other details are very nice as well. I wish you continued sucess in your battles. I also have found that when starting to collect and getting those first few games, writing battle reports helps to solidify the rules in yur head. This was a great first report!

Yes I agree; I have already learnt way more about the rules then I did from reading the rulebook, though I am one of those people who learns better through doing rather then seeing. Believe it or not the batrep itself did not take too long, though I know my way around photoshop pretty well thanks to prior worklife ;)

The master of the forge's conversion beamer came from the mission dreadnought expansion to Space Crusade (from the early 90's). In that game there was a diagram representing the different types of shots for each heavy weapon, and one of the options was the conversion beamer, which is pictured as firing a long beam that explodes on impact... So I simply recreated that idea.

Anyway, thankyou for reading and for commenting! I will try and win all my other battles too :P
