henrywalker
So I am building up an inquisitor army and i've planned two different groups of space marine-esque squadrons to be part of the army. I was wondering what you guys think of my idea. Firstly i have some that i'm thinking of running as counts-as purifiers. They are themed around the angel of death. I've bought ten dark angels veterans with cloaks and hoods, i then want to give them converted scythes (counts as halberds) and some angel of death shields from scibor (http://sciborminiatures.com/en_,shop.php?art=1099#i/conversion_parts_2011/big/angel_shields_01.jpg) i might then give some or all of them wings from the sanguinary guard kit. I also want to get this guy from scibor to lead them: This squad is to go with my Ordo Obscuros Inquisitor. (the ordo obscuros is the one that studies phenomena like the legion of the damned) Questions about this lot: Mainly, how can i go about converting the scythes? also i am fairly certain i'm going to be painting the cloaks black but what would work for the armour underneath? Secondly I am going to be making a squad using the scibor spartan torsos and heads (http://sciborminiatures.com/en_,shop.php?art=868) (http://sciborminiatures.com/en_,shop.php?art=916) these are going to have a mixture of halberds and the big glaives from the sanguinary guard kit as well as the wrist mounted bolters. They are going to be lead by this guy who will be a counts as brother captain these guys are to go with my main inquisitor who is ordo malleus along with his own quite large henchman band and a big converted baneblade/cathedral. they will be red and gold and the rest of the inquisitors set is black with red and gold trim. any thoughts about these guys? I will probably count them as purifiers again but is there something more sutable do we think? Thanks for the help Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/251876-converted-inquisitor-space-marine-troops/ Share on other sites
Bjorn Firewalker
Emperor, those are beautiful designs. For scythes, maybe you can modify the characters' Guardian Spears, by cutting off the blade, and then reattaching it perpendicular to the shaft? henrywalker
characters' Guardian Spears what are they? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/251876-converted-inquisitor-space-marine-troops/#findComment-3054688 Share on other sites
Bjorn Firewalker
characters' Guardian Spears what are they? From here: The guardian spear was the traditional weapon of the Adeptus Custodes during the Great Crusade and the Horus Heresy. The spears were halberd-like power weapons incorporating a bolt weapon. The weapon's powerful ranged and close combat duality complemented the fighting style of this bodyguard force, giving them good capabilities in both close combat and at a distance. Now look at the weapon in this guy's hand. Doesn't the rearward spike remind you of a bolter magazine? IronDragon66
I think that sounds like a great idea. - im putting together an Inquisition force myself....at least the fluff so far ;) Im trying to decide on what kind of space craft will be my Inquisitors base of operations. I don't have any character with those halberds although i guess i could try with gw halberds :s Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/251876-converted-inquisitor-space-marine-troops/#findComment-3055328 Share on other sites

Most of them seem to have small planet-hoppers, nothing with more than ten, maybe fifteen crew. That said, the Faustus-class interceptors from First and Only would make pretty badass Inquisitorial spacecraft. They're "a hundred paces long", "serrated cathedral spires with splayed flying buttresses". They're also used as long-range scouts, and they have an astropath nest at the back of the cockpit! They seem designed for multi-week scouting cruises, so they might not have a warp drive, but they are very fast sublight. Their engines are so powerful that when one gets blown up in the book, the blast radius from the plasma reactor is eighty kilometres across. Grotsmasha
Just a quick heads up, the Scibor minis are quite large for 40k scale, i'll throw up pics if youd like. IronDragon66
I think im leaning towards maybe a Cobra class Destroyer.....gives the inquisitor room for a large personal army, and the ability to virus bomb a planet, if he so wishes :o - for my force i think im gonna use Karskin storm trooper, Elysian drop troops, and a few space marines to fill death watch and grey knight spots. Im not gona have that many space marines though just a few......I really like the Eisenhorn books and how he uses mostly humans for his retinue. The trick now is to find a bunch of different cool human soldiers..... - does anyone have links to cool human warriors and such other than imperial guard? *Furyou Miko
Infinity have made a few. Shadowforge are a bit of a mixed bunch. Their good stuff is really good, but the rest is... well. There's some fun stuff from Privateer Press, but their website is a nightmare and you're better off just going to a model shop. Cygnar Gunmages in particular look like 1800s british naval officers. ^^; Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/251876-converted-inquisitor-space-marine-troops/#findComment-3056652 Share on other sites

J!MM!L!C!OUS
Too bad I was too late in finding this thread - I could have told you not to bother with Scibor - they look beautiful, but they are not in 40K scale. As your picture shows, they're bigger even than a terminator, and so are their body parts - like their heads etc are bigger too. Shame though, because the mini's are truely lovely looking Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/251876-converted-inquisitor-space-marine-troops/#findComment-3057046 Share on other sites
henrywalker
the conversion toros and heads i bought are the right scale, its just the full figures that get too big Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/251876-converted-inquisitor-space-marine-troops/#findComment-3057047 Share on other sites
Bjorn Firewalker
I'm tempted to say, "Screw it! They count as true scale Marines!" and encourage the figures' use, anyways. Freman Bloodglaive
Those are their "Primarch" models. You'd expect them to be bigger. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/251876-converted-inquisitor-space-marine-troops/#findComment-3059147 Share on other sites
