gilljoy
Hey all, I'm finally getting around to painting my space wolves and I've just got a quick question about what color to paint bolter and weapon casing. I had orignally thought about painting them black -> charadon granite -> charadon granite + a little white edge highlight but seeing as charadon granite is now gone may it rest in peace and theres no exact subsitute I'm not certain what colours to go about painting my weapon casing. I've attached a photo ( sorry its not the best) of my current WIP wolf for some suggestions. http://i.imgur.com/VoYf5.jpg Thanks Guys Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/251906-weapon-casing-colours/ Share on other sites

Kierdale
I can't persuade you to go with a retro-esque red or yellow? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/251906-weapon-casing-colours/#findComment-3054878 Share on other sites
gilljoy
I can't persuade you to go with a retro-esque red or yellow? I think I'll try one of each, not sure if red will go since I'm going for a harold deathsomething (can't remember his surname) scheme so its going to be dark red. I'll try out the yellow or red colours on the bolters Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/251906-weapon-casing-colours/#findComment-3054882 Share on other sites
Russ Brother 92
I normally go for a variety of red, yellow, black and occassionally (for HQ's) gold for the weapon/bolter casings. Forté
I can't persuade you to go with a retro-esque red or yellow? NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! Blacks good. You can highlight using blues for a more plastic look or do some edge chipping with a dark metal colour. The Wolfmeister
I can't persuade you to go with a retro-esque red or yellow? Ezeriel
I paint mine Fenris Grey to stand out from regular greys I use for the armor. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/251906-weapon-casing-colours/#findComment-3055190 Share on other sites
Rybnick
Black with a gold edge highlight looks pretty good in my opinion. The new GW base color Balthasar (sp?) Gold is wonderful. It's a nice dark gold color not a bright shiny gold. Blackmane
I use black. But I often paint the casing dark red on characters and specialists. Furthermore I always paint the weapon casing on my wolf guard models in pack pattern and colours. Those old-school red and yellow casings look tacky and out of date, like your mum's mustard-yellow sofa from the 60's.
