sombreromaster Posted May 10, 2012 Share Posted May 10, 2012 Hey everybody, just got into 40k a bit ago and decided to show what ive gathered to far. Unfortunately I became obsessed during finals week of my senior yr of college, so i havent had much scheduled time for fun. So ive only managed to assemble them, and prime and basecoat them. The Pics are of my army so far, The rhino is still not done, just wanted it in the pic. And the Three painted marines are from the 3 man snap together box, which is the very first thing i bought. These are my first miniatures ever, and did them without white, so i missed out on adding a couple things to make it pop. Tell me what you think. Also curious is anyone has a picture of a recently painted full army or just a rhino with the gold using gehennad gol. I used those on the 3 marined and like it because it is a little darker and not as shiny, but would like to see a comparison with shining auric armor, so i cant make sure im totally happy with everything. Also some tips on making the gold trim look good and dimensional would be killer. Circus Nurgling Posted May 10, 2012 Share Posted May 10, 2012 You could highlight and lowlight the metal by mixing in different shades of gold. They still have different paints of gold, right? I haven't kept up with the new paint line. If they don't you could mix in some brass or mithril silver (or whatever it's called now) to give yourself some different shades. The paint isn't too thick that it obscures the detail and the details you have picked out in paint follow the contours of that shape nicely.
