nurglespuss
Hi All, as per some other recent posts, I'm just starting to paint again after a long running (still waiting for op) hand injury. I've lost a fair bit of dexterity, but am fairly pleased with this :) what it lacks in minute detail I hope it makes up for in bright brashness! Any comments much appreciated thankyou! (Just needs varnishing & still deciding on base - I may go for shiny black with edge highlights?) Meet Venerable Brother Torn, veteran of the Eyrie prophet war - any comments appreciated! http://i651.photobucket.com/albums/uu240/nurglespuss/DSCN0549.jpg http://i651.photobucket.com/albums/uu240/nurglespuss/DSCN0550.jpg http://i651.photobucket.com/albums/uu240/nurglespuss/DSCN0556.jpg http://i651.photobucket.com/albums/uu240/nurglespuss/DSCN0558.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/252205-blood-angels-dreadnought/ Share on other sites
Schultzhoffen
That's quite good. Nice old school BA colours. One thing, though, perhaps you should try a wash on the wings and white areas and then highlight again to add some depth. At the moment it looks flat. Isiah
Agree with above. I wasn't expecting that wing – but a really nice touch. A very characterful BA dread. Grimdarkness
It looks good you might want to give that wing a wash to bring out some of the detail. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/252205-blood-angels-dreadnought/#findComment-3059611 Share on other sites
Lestat
One good looking dread! Love the choice of colours - bit of a 90's flashback to 2nd edition BA's :tu: Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/252205-blood-angels-dreadnought/#findComment-3059613 Share on other sites

Lestat
I woukld have used a grey base colour to begin with and add in white a little at a time in order gradualy build up the highlights. You can use a wash now to help define the edges of the feathers. Thin down nuln oil/badab black and paint it in the grooves with a fine brush and just let it flow naturally in. Just don't over do it - a little goes a long way! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/252205-blood-angels-dreadnought/#findComment-3060063 Share on other sites
Dude with a Brush
Very cartoony scheme but it works! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/252205-blood-angels-dreadnought/#findComment-3060229 Share on other sites
nurglespuss
Thanks again for the advice :D I've used a grey base on my sergeants shoulder wing in my blog on the blood angels part, Its a darker effect, but more detail... cheers :) And yes thankyou! I was going for simple and slightly cartoony! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/252205-blood-angels-dreadnought/#findComment-3060489 Share on other sites
