Hi guys

For now all I have is a few pics of some Iron Warriors but hope to have my Possessed and Black Legion finished soon so I can add them to this little topic of mine. basically I couldn't decide on which Chaos army I wanted to do so have started work on a little bit of everything.

Sorry about the photos (tips would be helpful)

C&C welcome!

lookin great, always loved the industrial look of iron warriors, haz markings look fab! that raaider must have been a mare to paint silver... I would perhaps consdrr a couple more watered down highlights and a couple of thinned washes for the big box. great stuff

Aye looking at it now i think ill go round the recesses again, but as for actually painting it silver, the citadel spray gun is awesome. I just did a spray coat of leadbelcher, wash of badab black and dry brushed with mithril silver. the spray gun gives a nice even coat which always helps

Hey BloodJunkie. Good stuff!

If you are looking for some help with photography my small tips would be

lots of light +

lightbox +

a tiny bit of color balance editing

It looks like you have a light box of some kind going on already? Do you have a lamp? If so try shining that sucker as close to your minis as possible :) It looks like you have some shadows in your pictures, so my suggestion would be: move the lamp closer.

Finally, one thing that really makes pictures pop is to redo the color balance so white shows up as white. This brings the rest of your great colors into line as well. Here's an example:

Before color balance:

After color balance:

Now your photos already look better than that, so you're on the right track :P

There is a color balance tutorial here, or you might like to check out the rest of the Photography Tutorials. I use a program called GIMP because it's free.

Lastly, don't be afraid to upload larger sizes! Being able to zoom in on your awesome minis to see the details is a lot of fun :cuss

Hope that helps!

Thanks culix that is awesome, I'll get round to trying it out as soon as I've got some more mini's finished. Shouldn't be too long now, im half way through a Black legion marine squad and a rhino with Forgeworld extra armour. pics will follow soon!
