My take on the E TENEBRAE LUX

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone! Welcome to my thread of the E TENEBRAE LUX painting challenge, this is where I put updates of my vow in, namely some miniatures.

Here's the vow:

I, Snorri, answer the challenge of the Unforgiven and vow to complete Astorath the Grim, a 10 men squad Assault Marines with 2 Meltaguns and one Powerfist as well as 5 DC with Jumppacks, 2 Powerweapons and one Powerfist from Codex:Blood Angels of total value of 685 points on or before August 15. Success will bring eternal glory to the Ninth Legion and failure will doom me to bear the sign of damnation until the year-end.

So, I'm going to start with Astorath, since he's already assembled except for the wings which should arrive in 2 or 3 days(GW ships from the UK...it takes up to 10 days! :P ).

So you all know what Astorath looks like...

Of course, it's a nice mini and all. But I don't know, I just can't leave anything unconverted - it's a blessing and a curse.

So, here's what I made of him, after looking at his codex entry, or let's say the picture where he decapitates a Chaos Space Marine.

Another side shot:

The axe is made of four parts and it was a real pain to make it look like it was made from one! :P

Here's the new shaft, from a Grey Knight halberd, thanks to Gv0zd for the stellar looking idea. ;)

To keep it in line with his moving direction, I had to warp the jump pack a bit.

So here's the original:

And here's the warped part after I bended it under hot water:

I hope the difference shows on the pics!

Well, thanks for watching everybody! I will be getting some new paints as well with Astorath's wings, so I'll be able to use them in this painting challenge!

C&C are always welcome :)

Snorri, I know what you mean... I've taken to re-doing all of the special characters from the dex (with the exception of the new Lemmy;AWESOME.)

Your slick conversion of Astro is looking really really good so far. Me Likey :(

Thank you very much guys!

CC, thank you very much! I've also assembled a counts-as Gabriel Seth for my Blood Angels, since a FT would look odd otherwise there...another first time for me!(1st FineCast Mini, first counts-as... :( )

And to all: I'll be stripping some paint off my old metal DC and giving Astorath some black brush paint. Hopefully his wings arrive soon so I can continue!

Stay tuned!
