need opinions on ideas for Vindicator

I'm thinking of adding a vindicator to my list.

I however am torn between buying an actual vindicator kit or buying a IG hellhound or IG leman russ and converting them.

I already use a Leman russ as a predator tank and love the overly boxy aggressive look of the IG kits but I also am partial to the look of the vindicator.

So what I'm basically asking for input on is have you seen any converted IG tanks used as vindicators?

What is your opinion on the whole idea? good/bad/indifferent?

I've been going back and forth for about 2 weeks and can't make up my mind...

hendrik- Yeah I saw the thunderer on forgeworld's site. Thats where I was getting the idea from.

Khine- OMG I love the look of that thing. Any idea what that is?

I was thinking of using a hellhound since it has the nice engine bay in the back but am rethinking the idea of using a Russ after seeing the one Khine posted...

Im pretty sure it is the Russ chasis with the old metal vindicator bits. not sure about the back.

Yup, that's exactly what that is, with a Russ chassis and some FW Trench Rails :)

I am sure that with TWC around , the only way for a SW vindicator counts as is to take the WFB oger rhino cannon .

But being more serious , the old rhino hull +Lemman Russ tracks always worked for tanks and it looks great.

Now I suddenly want to use the ogre cannon....

I'm contemplating using a new vindicator kit and leman russ tracks after thinking about how to do this all night...

imagine you deploy 3x4 TWC a lord an iron priest with some wolfs some greys in razors and 3 "rhino" vindicators . your opponents doesnt understand that your playing with 2x5 troops[and the razors are not the costly las or las/plas but the cheap hvy bolter ones] he moves back a bit shots up the IP and the lord standing at the front [master class painted/converted] next turn you move up and suddenly that what he though was TWC shots 3xstr10 ap 1 templates at his rhino wall.

here is my old vindicator/leman russ conversion

OK its OT but I have to ask... Why does the mounted stormbolter have a bayonet on it? Its not even side ways so you could "spin" the mount and use it, uness you depress it to max then jump on the other end like teater-tater and dry and flip the enemy away from your tank?

:D

my army was Wolf Brothers themed, so i used many chaos parts, and for some reason the chaos pintle-mounted stormbolter has a bayonet... :D no idea why i think it looks kinda cool though
