Twilight Angels WIP

My first army and my first time to actually paint models these small. I started this army in October of last year but only now got around to putting up any pictures, as i've been slowly working on them for the past few months. These guys are supposed to be Dark Angels successors but i haven't been able to find any robed marines anywhere yet. I used Tamiya acrylics for this project since the price for Citadel paints where i'm from is just atrocious.

The black armor was done with an undercoat of flat black spray followed by a 50/50 coat of XF-1 Flat Black and X-1 Black. Trim is a 70/30 mix of X-5 Green and X-2 White. Chest aquilas have a basecoat of X10 Gun Metal followed by a drybrush of X11 Chrome Silver, although i think the drybrush was a bit too heavy.

Company Master and command squad. The apothecary, plasma gunner and powerfist dude are recent additions and are still unpainted.

Yep, I definitely still have a long way to go and it shows. Still a lot of work to be done too, including armor highlighting, additional minor details, cleaning up of stray paintstrokes, and application of decals. At the rate i'm working, it'll be a few more months before everything's finished.

Im sorry, the title immediatley sent me to a place involving a film thats less Grim-dark and more grimly awful

but I do like the colour of the trim and how it pops against the black. Keep it up!

Hahaha, i was actually expecting that reaction to the name. I've wanted to use that name as far back as 2007 when i was first thinking of trying out the minis. It's actually a referrence to the .hack//G.U games and it's also a nod to their ancestral legion. I would've gone with Shadow Angels or something similarly dark but i really wanted to use "twilight" in the name. I blame those darn books and movies for forever tarnishing that word. :)

Good clean painting. The only thing I see taht you could do would be to look at some more highlighting or weathering and maybe paint the lenses to look more like jewels.

Otherwise keep it up!!

Thanks for the comments, people. They're much appreciated.

@Kassill

The thunder hammer is an original piece made by a friend of mine using styrene sheets and the tube from a Q-tip. I got the idea after seeing Captain Titus wield one in the Space Marine game. The scythe on one of the other Assault Marines was also made by him but still hasn't received the finishing touches yet.

@AndrewJ

Yeah, highlighting the armor will be the next step in the process once i find some motivation. Regarding the eyes, the current progress is a layer of X14 Sky Blue over X4 Blue. I'm aiming to do them with a glowing effect but i haven't added the last couple of layers just yet. In time, maybe. :drool:
