don't go without them, make sure you an allocate amongst the squad (giving melta bombs to one person works great for this) and don't be tempted to give them guns (i occasionally give my lord a plasma pistol to help knock a wound off something big) as then you have to give up fleet if you shoot.

oh and don't bother with mark of the wulfen, do the math and you'll see why

one dumb ass thing i did at first (mostly for modelling purposes but still dumb) is give my lord a thunder hammer and one of my TWC a frost axe. the other way round is the only way it makes sense, the lord is I5 and i was jut throwing that away for no particularly good reason.

Hope that helps, awesome unit, great fun to play and interesting to build

NB: PAY ATTENTION TO THE LETTERS ON THE SADDLES, ONE SADDLE FTS WITH ONE WOLF AND ONE SET OF LEGS, MAKE IT MUCH EASIER.

I disagree on shields being manditory. Yes, they're good and great to have, but I've found that more often than not the T5 and multiple wounds evenly allocated is more than enough to get them into melee... in which case, after that point, its pretty hard to stop them.

On a TWL, however, I can see where it would be put to greater use, especially when paired with a frost weapon.

I load mine as follows:

Thunderwolf Lord 240

Thunderwolf Mount

Storm Shield

Wolf Claw

Beastslayer

Runic Armor

Wolf Tooth Necklace

Wolf Tooth Talisman

3 TWC 240

1 Thunder Hammer, Shield

1 CC, Shield

1 CC, Bolt Pistol

I played them for the first time today against Chaos Demons. The Lord got bogged down against an Unclean One, but eventually took him down after the TWC charged in to assist after wiping a different squad. 3+ against T5 plus rerolls to hit and wound (Beastlayer, Claw) was pretty fun. After the Unclean One, they wiped 10 Plaguebearers in one turn without taking a wound.
