News on More Heresy novels

Because nobody else had this up.

What happened to the Death Guard? Did they turn to Nurgle on the way to Terra?

James:

Yes, but as with all things Chaos-y, it’s not quite that clear-cut. We have some really cool secret plans about how we’ll show the fall and what it means for the Heresy...

Will we hear any more about the Perpetuals: Trooper Persson and John Gramatticus are a couple of my favourite characters so far, I want more!

Dan:

We wouldn’t have put them in and not intended it to go somewhere very important.

Will we see more about the caverns in Calth?

Dan:

Yes, lots more and in different places. Know No Fear was just the beginning, we know that the battle raged for many years, and there's a certain showdown that fans of Graham's Ultramarines series have been waiting for...

When will we get more Night Lords?

Aaron:

Hypothetically, it’d be my next novel after Betrayer.

Hypothetically, it’d be called 'Nightfall'.

Hypothetically, it’d follow on right after 'Prince of Crows', which features in Shadows of Treachery.

When are the White Scars going to turn up?

Chris:

There is no way that the White Scars aren’t going to get their story told, and it’s something that has been given a lot of thought. Watch this space for more details!

Please tell us who the 2nd and 11th legions were and why they were deleted from all records.

Dan:

It’s interesting you should ask that becau-

So appearantly the Battle of Calth lasted for many years and we will be getting a new Ultramarine novel by Abnett. We will be getting a new Night Lords novel and a White Scars novel.

The Ultramarine novel will be called The Unremembered Empire.

Dan: Next for me is The Unremembered Empire, which is a direct sequel to Know No Fear and takes the Ultramarines (the survivors) back to Macragge. Then again, Aaron’s (Dembski-Bowden) Betrayer is also a direct sequel to KNF, so KNF is a bit of a branching book. The interweaving is getting more complex and the pace is picking up.

Interesting.

I do like the joke at the end. Well, at least I hope it is a joke. The 2nd and 11th being "missing and deleted" is one of the oldest surviving fluff pieces in 40K, lol. It would be a shame if the Black Library caves and destroys that by telling us who they were.

Cool. Abnett's Ultramarines are extremely popular and I'll look forward to it.

Is a bit strange to read this:

I think it's about time they were revealed.

Made my day. Thank you, Aaron.

All of this is seriously good news but, for sake of posterity (and the fact I've been harping on about them for months): Finally, a White Scars book! And the funny thing is I'm not a White Scar player. I like them as much as all the others.

This

I don't play White Scars, but have painted up a few just because they look awesome, and they are a first founding legion. Seriously looking forward to this.

I hope they don't go overboard on the mongol theme

Good. Hypothetically, Nightfall will make an excellent read after Fear to Tread and Betrayer. Weird, unexplainable, and hypothetical things are happening in the lower portions of my power armor.

And so the slow turn to Slaneesh starts on the B&C. good news on the Calth story line. KNF ended with me thinking "What!? Where is the f'ing rest of it?!!"

I'm glad we'll be seeing more of the perpetuals, I really hope they take it somewhere exciting and with a big revelation as they have been excellent characters thus far and I'd like to see this theme continue :P

As for the Ultramarines stuff. Hell Yes, I'm so happy with that it's unbelieveable I couldn't get enough of Know No Fear.... and now I'm getting more :P

Also anything that ADB does is excellent so I'm really looking forward to seeing more of the Night Lords, seriously he could write 1000 offensive comments about me on a book made of my flayed skin and I'd still love it :P

As for the White Scars, I'm really happy they are getting their story told, I mean I knew every legion would get at least one book, but I always felt they might be slightly overlooked as a legion.

Finally I was so delighted with that joke and I really hope they do reveal it as it's bugged me for years. :P

They shouldn't neglect the mogol theme either (it would be like Space Wolves without the norsemen theme). I hope Mr. Wraight does his research on the mongols and strikes a solid balance between the legion's historical inspiration (medieval mongolians) and his own original ideas.

Besides Mongols, other nations based on steppen life style (Huns, Turks, Magyars) can be used for inspiration. Their shamanistic themes would be great for psychic - warp stuff.

Basically all Steppe nomad cultures

Heck, even some Chinese, Tibetan elements could be thrown in.

Finally I was so delighted with that joke and I really hope they do reveal it as it's bugged me for years. ;)

What do you mean finally reveal it? You mean to say you hadn't heard? Get yourself over to A-D-B's blog and it's all revealed there...

Probably ;)

If GW was ever to reveal actual details of the two missing Legions, it'd be one of the dumbest moves they've made in a long time. Which is saying something...

Revealing anything concrete about them obliterates the mystery, removes them as a juicy plot hook and effectively neuters their use as a tease to readers. In short, it'd be a terrible waste.

I really do see your points. And I understand them completely.

However, I personally feel that if Dan or A D-B was allowed to handle it, it could be done well.

Note: It could also be done terribly though. And I completely sympathize with you not liking the idea because of that.
