Brother Kirus
Greetings gentlemen, I am working on an assault sergeant from the 2nd company. I am planning to go a bit "old fashion" and use a back pack banner. I was hoping that you guys can help me to come up with decent design for it. I was thinking to use standard 2nd company design as a base - yellow field with diagonal red stripe but I am not sure what other elements I should put on this banner. Any ideas would be much appreciated. Thank you!
Leonaides
Squad symbol, from kneepad. Squad number. Name. That would be the basics covered, unless you really want old-school with the plain black banner with red chapter symbol and squad number in top left corner in a white square. Xenith
Standard BA banner conventions are: Combat squad leaders have red banners with a black chapter symbol, with the squad number in a white box in the top left. Veteran sergeants have black banners with red chapter symbol, with the squad number in a white box in the top left. Also, isn't the 3rd company the diagonal red stripe? I thought 2nd was a vertical red stripe? http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/index.p...howtopic=198505 Chapter sumbol in black over the company colours would be awesome. Brother Nathan
similar questions come up often do ive these incase they may help... http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s317/generalhazard_album/models/banners.pnghttp://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s317/generalhazard_album/models/Capture4.png http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s317/generalhazard_album/models/banner.png http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s317/generalhazard_album/models/compheral.jpg http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s317/generalhazard_album/models/lamenterpads.jpg http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s317/generalhazard_album/models/Capture3.png http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s317/generalhazard_album/models/Capture2.png http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s317/generalhazard_album/models/Capture-2.png
Vodunius
http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s317/generalhazard_album/models/compheral.jpg 2nd & 3rd are canon, the rest are conjecture (I drew the pic) http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s317/generalhazard_album/models/lamenterpads.jpg Smurf pads are canon, Lamenters are complete fan speculation based purely on how awesome the fan Lamenter skin for Dawn of War 1 looked (another of my pics ;)) Standard BA banner conventions are: Combat squad leaders have red banners with a black chapter symbol, with the squad number in a white box in the top left. Veteran sergeants have black banners with red chapter symbol, with the squad number in a white box in the top left. Mixed editions there. In 2nd edition a 'squad leader' was the second in command of a 10-man battle squad, who would command the 5-man combat squad not commanded by the sergeant, in the case of Blood Angels the squad leader had identical armour markings to the sergeant (the black pads) - it was the banners that differentiated them. In 3rd edition had no combat squads or squad leaders, so they labelled the previous editions banners as Sergeant & Veteran Sergeant. (which may be of interest to people who like to go 'old skool' with their BA)

Brother Kirus
I appreciate your help guys! My project changed slightly but there is a lot of useful information here. Now I have better idea of what I want from the sergeant’s banner.
