Hallowed Halls...

Recommended Posts

When I bought my house a few years back I knew that the bonus room above the garage was destined to be my special place. With a bit of work and imagination it has become The Roaring Kitten Pub, complete with bar and tap where I serve my tasty homebrews! A few months back I got back into the hobby after being away for several years ( thanks to the opening of a new GW store next to my favorite BW's!!! ) I decided to have my foosball table serve double duty as a gaming table, and today I got my gaming mat from Zuzzy. I thought I'd show off my progress and also give others a chance to show us where they play. If you're ever close to Indy, give me a shout and stop by for a pint and a game!!! Slainte'!!!

My man cave is a thing of civilization carved from chaos.

It's been a while since it has been put to use for gaming, but it is one of the primary places where my friends and I play 40k and D&D.

Currently it's occupied by an awful lot of female clothes and stuff due to my friend living up here with me until we renovate the rest of the house, so I'm not so sure "man cave" applies technically, though it certainly does in its overall format and content.

Roughly 20'x25' room, 8'-10" ceiling.

1 bookshelf loaded in Ultramarines and other 40k stuff

1 bookshelf loaded with tons of books - lots of classic stuff, lots of Black Library stuff, almost the entirety of 3.5 D&D and Pathfinder

1 bookshelf loaded with Codices, BBBs, Deathwatch RPG books, food and food related items.

1 bookshelf partially loaded with movies and video games

1 bookshelf partially loaded with boxes of 40k stuff

Kingsized memory foam couch/bed

My desk and PC with its 32" primary screen and a 12' secondary "screen" projected on the opposite wall at the foot of the couch/bed

My roommate's desk and PC

5 recliners

Nearly every major game console since the SNES

A mini-fridge (soon to be 1 of 2)

Microwave

Heater

ACs

4x folding tables and 8x folding chairs

A huge open space in which to set up a load of folding furniture for D&D, 40k or whatever.

Swords

Dragon head mounted on the wall

Other assorted geeky stuff.

All of that in a room that is technically unfinished. Needs to be properly insulated, rewired, needs a real floor, needs repainted, etc...

Before my friends and I adopted this space for gaming it was more or less a huge attic.

I'll try and take pictures when she wakes up.

TEC, that room is almost the same size as my flat! ;)

That said, I have a table that (in theory) is for modelling in my bedroom. It's currently got a lot of stuff I need to sort out (but the procrastinator I am keeps putting off). I do have a table in the kitchen that I could use as a gaming table, but.... it has stuff I need to sort out on it(see point "A" :) )

My man cave is my dorm sized bedroom at home. Sadly, no room to play, or have more than two people in. ;)

That said, the day I move out I will end up dumping a ton of cash into my man cave from all the ideas I have. :)

Also, this thread is useless without more pictures!

Jaysus EC! That sounds huge compared to my space! Of course I've got nobody sleeping in my cave but it sounds like it's got definite potential.

Well, it's the entire space above a large 2 car garage, and what can I say? Everything's bigger in Texas! :)

It's just that I don't want to turn on lights to take pictures and wake her up. There's more than enough space to do as I please even with her and her stuff occupying space, and I'm quite happy to have her here. She keeps me sane. Mostly. :)

My roommate and I have our work tables set up in the garage where it does not matter much if paint or glue lands on the floor. My old gaming table is in the garage but it is loaded down with boxes and lost to storage. It is 4' X 8' at least 15 years old now. 20 years maybe? Damn I am getting too old ... :) Anyway, that table is bowed bad and no longer fit for games. We play games in the livingroom where we can easily set up two tables.

Also in the garage is an old 'fridge for our beerbox and a set of shelves that hold all the terrain. All in all it is just a garage -- that has never seen a car -- but it is our (wo)man cave B)

I have half of a spare bedroom for my stuff. I've got my desk at which I paint and build, piles and stacks of various modelling things, and old armoire I keep some more stuff in, my personal armory in the corner (shotgun, rifle, ammo), my hockey equipment stacked next to that, and my wife rarely makes me clean it all up. It's hard to store all that stuff since she filled all the closets with her stuff!

bought a house recently ( october last year ) and my wife and myself actually searched for a 3 bedroom house with an extra room for me ;) we found one that was perfect for this

it's not too big ( 4meters by 5 meters, for you footfetishists it's around 14ft by 17-18ft if my memory serves ), painting table is already installed, new electrics were put in (had 0 (ZERO) sockets, now it has 6 ) and it has 2 large built-in closets ( with adjustable shelving ).

Plans at the moment are:

- New flooring

- paint the walls white ( now it has some fugly wallpaper ), then let a grafiti artist do a piece on 1 wall with a double-headed eagle ( Hail The Emperor! )

- Fold-away table ( it's just over 4ft between the 2 built-in closets, I'm thinking of a system that let's me fold the table against the wall for easy storage )

- New lighting ( now only has 1 lightbulb for the entire room, going to get some adjustable lights )

- 2 Glass cabinets so I can showcase my game collectibles and army ;)

- maybe further in the future get a desktop computer of laptop and mod it into a wall-cogitator ( for ease of looking up things and music and such )

- Wall-mounted speakers ( everybody needs music right? )

pictures not available atm, but I will start up a log keeping track of the progress ;)

Witches, Warlocks, Wizards? There seems to be an overflow of psykers out there! It's beginning to make the skin of this Black Templar crawl!!! Someone pass me my flamer...

*Runs with flamer to Brother Sellsword*

*Then Looks Down the signts on his Holy Bolter while swinging his Power Fist*

Abhor the Witch!!!!

Yes i do think more pictures would be good to see other members and their man caves or should we say Marine Barracks.

I am stations in an apartment atm so all i have is a plain spare room for terrain and modeling.

after i move I'll be building a location suitable for my Army and training grounds, so if this thread is still floating around ill post pictures of it all.

I have to say, I've noticed a lot more gamers in the military since I was in back in the late 80's and early 90's. Sounds crazy when I hear guys talking about taking their armies with them on deployments! I was Army, but a Semper Fi to you! Maybe some of our military bretheren have some pics of where they game for us!
