Ironbug
Hi guys, double edge question here, Firstly, I'm looking to make an Ice-Sword, how on earth woudl I accomplish this? I would like to make it look like it is made from ice. Secondly, the same question, but a fire sword. I'd personally use the Fire Mage pack from Fantasy for this but any tips, or other ideas, or perhaps even inspiration for them ?;) Thanks in advance Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/252817-making-an-ice-sword-or-fire-sword/ Share on other sites
Tanhausen
Making... Do you mean Sculpting or Painting? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/252817-making-an-ice-sword-or-fire-sword/#findComment-3067712 Share on other sites
Olis
I my opinion; the fire sword can be easily done by getting a hold of a WHF empire sword that's got flames sculpted onto it, and the ice sword should be a simple paintjob issue, I think, as ice is harder to replicate with sculpting. I suppose a very roundabout way of getting something looking ice-like would be to press mould copy of the sword in question and use clear resin to cast one up. Bam. One clear ice sword. Like I said, this is a bit of a roundabout method. ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/252817-making-an-ice-sword-or-fire-sword/#findComment-3067724 Share on other sites
Jacinda
If I were going to make an ice sword I would use a savage ork blade from Fantasy Battles. lhg033
only think i can think of for an ice sword, short of something in clear plastic, is paiting it colde blues and whites. could end up looking like a normal power weapon though. Ah-a-nothepsis
use a normal sword painted blue, and then smooth on 50/50 water and PVA glue. If you can estimate the proper time for the PVA glue to "set", start painting on gw's 'Ardcoat. The coat will tighten, making the drying PVA glue crack as the entire thing dries altogether. I've used this recipe on space wolf bases and it was so thin that there's no reason the same method can't translate onto a sword blade.
