Anyone else having any problems with the new layer paints?

Well I've shaken them, and shaken them, and even used an agitator, nothing shifts these lumps, it also dries on the pallette very quickly.

The reds/oranges I bought are fine, but the whites, not so good.

Anybody else have a similar experience?

(taking them back to a GW is a real chore from where I live).

they definately dry fast. thinking of giving a wet pallette a go again once i'm used to them to see if this helps.

i've been testing out the GW colour schemes as its been some time since i did any serious painting and i figured this is a good place to start with the new range

khone

black

flesh

gold

bone

paiting a flesh tearer test model and a DW terminator test.

khorne - didnt get on well with kindle flame - came out to bright and i was happy with the look before i added this so will drop this in future. nice scheme for a darker red

black - no surprises with this. personal taste to take it as far as the GW scheme with hightlights.

flesh - looks pretty good. need to do eyes/lips etc to finish the face off but happy with the skin tone. need to try out the tanned flesh scheme at some point.

bone - i really liked this - came out a lot better than using brown washes/bleached bones etc as i used to. again you can miss the dry though i quite liked this one for extreme highlights

gold - all need a fair bit of shaking first. the dry for golds was a lot thinner that i expected based on the other dry's, seemed more like a layer but gave a nice final highlight.

for whites - i used praxeti(?) for the dry on the bone and it came up ok. i used ceramite white for the teeth - this seemed clear of any lumps. yet to open white scar up and try this on anything

as for the indiviual paints. the only one i had any issue with is bestigor flesh was a bit lumpy though may have come from the brush or pallete somehow. didnt look lumpy in the pot.

what i'm really unimpressed with so far is the new GW fine detail brush i picked up. i'm just getting back into painting properly and picked up this and army painter precise and insane detail brushes. The GW is losing its point after a few strokes and seemingly has a random long hair. Quite impressed by the army painter brushes - do exactly what they say
