Unorthodox Angels........

soooooo,

As with my beloved Black Templars, I use a different codex for my DA's. most of the time I just use C:SM, hey IMO it's the most tacticallt flexible codex out there. I love my unforgiven sterngaurd. elite troops with specialised loaouts to hunt the fallen with..........beautiful, just beautiful.

I also love the honor gaurd option this gives me, or the gaurdians of the inner circle as I like to call them.

I have recently started using the spacewolf codex as well.......heresy, I know. I mainly use it against the several fallen DA players in my group. they use the chaos codex. the greatest assets this gives me is really insane weapon loadouts and........the loan wolf, which I call "The Lion". he is resposible for single mindedly hunting the fallen commander in the game. He has also nailed Cypher in 3 separate games. glory to the Lion I haven't tried tha BA dex, as It seems waaaay to foreign to me. this is how I play the 1st. hopefully the new dex is coming very soon and is awesome. the current one is what turned me off of the unforgiven........ I mean scouts as elites, more expensive lascannons, and only one troop choice for a standard army.....really?

Pardon my bluntness, but whats the point you're trying to make here? It isn't exactly news that several DA players opted for other Codex...

Personally, despite it's shortcomings I play with DA codex, I can't convince my brain that I can't play DA with another Codex despite the attempts made using C:SM. My brain says if I have a DA Codex I must use it despite the disadvantages..oh well, at least victories taste sweeter.

I intend to agree with you Chappy. I will play the DA codex until I can get a new one. I've been play DA for 20+ years and will not change because of a bad codex. It has been my first love and always will be loyal to DA.

@FP you should use what ever codex you fits your taste. But you should stick to one codex instead of switching from codex to codex. So that are opponents arnt screamng foul and pitch a fit. You should always use one codex. IMHO the DA codex is a good codex some flaws but you can work around them. I winning/losing game with the DA codex. I run a foot DA list and I win with that list. I made 3 place in the last tournament I played. But as alway its your army play as you wish.

This.I ve been on the greener pastures of the marine dex but...it aint cut it...

I mean there is nothing compared to wiping the floor with your opponent when using a codex that was lacking (rulewise) from day one.

Simply put when the command squad plants the DA sacred standard on the opponents commanders dead body you feel a warm fuzziness and savor the victory.

Isn't that the truth?

I think a lot of the dedicated DA players who actually have used the DA codex since 07, will have a much more satisfying time cracking open that brand spanking new 6th edition codex and in a monkish, monotone voice proclaim: "Vindication."

Ok everyone don't get me wrong, I love the DA. and the codex is workable. Ishould have clarified that I was experimenting. My main army is still 4th ed codex (BT). and I usually own with it......I probably should also note that I've had the best luck with current dex ;)

(when) i play my dark angels i use the DA codex - never really occured to me to do anything else

i have the models for a C:SM army but i'm still chosing between flesh tearers and angels of vengence as the scheme. the latter ties into my current army if i want but i also like the older fluff on the FT's and the colour is new for me.

either option i chose the idea is that i can use this army with other codex's if i want to

I normally play the DA codex but sometimes I want to do something a little different. I am wanting to throw a slight wrench in the normal way everyone is playing in a local tourney I am going to be at this weekend and I am using C:SM for the Master of the Forge and running Dreads. I know it may not do the best but sometimes I really just want to play something different and that may be fun. lqtm. So as said I normally go DA codex except in the spots where I want to do some silly thing or I can't play DA as sometimes happens in some team tourneys where each person needs a different Codex.
Awwwwww screw it! I think I am on the cusp of going back to first legion. I doubt my BT's are ever going to get updated and well, everthing else is really not my style. after practicing with the vanilla dex I think I'll leave that for my Iron Snakes. true I just started a blog about my new Apoc army, but I'll return to the unforgiven...... after all, there are still fallen out there. I do like the dex as it stands, I just hope the new one kicks @$$. Does anyone know who the author is? Phil Kelly would be sweet.
