Hail!

Well - found it, bought it, bought the Mission Pack 1 and Space Marine Pack 1 too....but have yet to play it, as I am confounded by the rules. Perhaps, you, War Angel, could be so kind as to put up a tutorial of how to actually play the game?

Regards,

Master Ciaphas

got this a few months ago and have played it quite a few times since. works better with large squads as its way to easy for your guys to get ripped to bits (no re-rolls on the saves when being attacked behind, auto killed by five or more genestealers and being removed as casuallties due to trying to do your special actions) Not that that numbers automatically make it easy... only had one game where we ripped though it without loosing five marines! having good luck with the event cards helps so take the guys who can look at those occassionally and remeber to use your special skills. make sure you keep guys looking behind you covering the rear of your squad members (this also helps when your squad gets rotated due to pesky event cards) the assault cannon can cover a lot of people if positioned right.

good game but with a healthy does of cruelty thrown in which leaves you shouting for sixes on what you always remember later is a 0-5 dice!!! dammit another auto dead termie!!!

I have the core set, and have played it quite a bit in solitaire mode.

The game steps are hard to remember, so I always have the instruction sheet laid out next to me for reference. I've only gotten past the second mission ONCE in about 15 games. It is a tough game, but pretty entertaining. It's so much more portable than Space Hulk. There are a ton of print-on-demand expansions for the game now available from Fantasy Flight Games' website. One adds a Chaplain and a new squad, another adds Deathwing Terminators, plus a new mission pack, more Nid cards, etc.

I have the Space Marine Pack I, Tyranid Pack I, and Mission Pack. They add a lot of variety to the game, especially if you just play with all the cards together (the rules for Tyranid Pack I and Mission Pack I say they replace the normal Genestealers and Locations, but we just combine all the decks when we play).

Playing online shouldn't be too difficult, you just need to be mindful of placement and some symbols on cards — so a Play By E-mail would need images. Probably easier over something like Vassal.

sorry i didnt notice that there was a request for a tutorial. i would gladly give one but im not at home for the next two months and didnt bring it with me. as hoots has said, keep checking youre six, and the most important thing is to not have everyone shoot at once.
