Blood Angels build log

Hi guys!

After nearly 3 years of doing nothing tabletop related, I decided to return to the hobby.

I want to build a complete new army and picked Blood Angels. I will try to make every special weapon magnetized and paint as much as possible with my airbrush.

This is my planed army:

HQ

Reclusiarch, Inferno pistol 145

Librarian, Inferno pistol 115

Elites

Furioso Dreadnought, Blood Talons, Extra Armour 140

Furioso Dreadnought, Blood Talons, Extra Armour 140

Troops

10 Marines, Melter, Fist, Multimelter or Missile Launcher 200

10 Marines, Melter, Fist, Multimelter or Missile Launcher 200

10 Death Company Marines, 2 Fist, 2 Infernus pistol 325

Death Company Dreadnought, Blood Talons 125

Heavy Support

Stormraven Gunship, extra armour 215

Stormraven Gunship, extra armour 215

Stormraven Gunship, extra armour 215

1990 points

I know this is a highly fragile army and the first two turns always will be a gamble, but I like the idea of a storm landing army.

Everything I need arrived in the mail today:

To sum it all up:

22 Marines

10 Death Company Marines

3 Cybots

3 Stormraven Gunships

1 Librarian

1 Reclusiarch

And because I had two Rhinos lying around I will add them for more options in smaller games.

Tomorrow I will start building, so stay tuned.

Its time for some updates!

Over the weekend I visited my Grandfather, sat with him in the garden and put together some Marines.

Weapons and backpacks will be added after the marines are primed and airbrushed red.

Had 7 marines lying around so I just needed to build 7 normal, 1 with melter, 2 multi melter, 2 rocket launcher marines and 2 seargents. I will add magnets to the seargent arms to change them.

Hi alejandrinus,

I will take a look at this challenge in the evening.

What I did so far today:

3 Cybots. 2 Furioso (one with the option to field a Furioso-Scriptor) and a Deathguard Cybot.

i run the same list only with assault marines instead of tac squads. it is a fun army 3 storm ravens is a blast. it all comes down to mission and how you deploy if you dont go first its ruff.

One question; why Tactical squads over Assault Squads?

I only have 32 marines and 6 vehicles, with assault marines I would have even less marines on the table. I will have to try out variations of the list, maybe I will change it, but I doubt it.

One last small update for today:

I also started building the death company marines but noticed that Iam running out of magnets.

So I have to order new magnets, but this will delay my process. ^_^

Two things, firstly welcome to the B&C!!!!

Secondly, after seeing your tag I honestly wanted to create a new account named Earnie and post nothing but "Hey Bert"

Back on topic, that is an impressive way to jump back into the hobby! I'll certainly be keeping tabs on progress.

Cheers,

Jono

Just a small update without pictures today.

I finished one Death Company marine with a magnetized backpack and jumppack and started to build the first Stormraven. The Stormraven kit actualy is a realy nice kit. I hope my ordered magnets will arrive today so I can finish the Death Company over the weekend.

While working on the Death Company a question arose. Does the Death Company have dedicated Stormravens? Iam wondering if I paint one Stormraven black, but I doubt that the BA have enough Stormravens to dedicate them to such special units. Does someone know of some official fluff answering this question?

I don't think anyone in the list can take a storm raven as a dedicated transport. That doesn't stop them from rolling in together, just makes it inconvenient where reserves are concerned.

Might I ask though why Death Company? They are awesome from a fluff perspective but from a gaming perspective you are generally better off taking just about anything else. One model alone is the same price as your melta gunner after all and he at least can score. That and Blood Angel Assault Squads can take them for a little more if my memory is not off. Not as much customization options but then its a little bit more controlled of a unit and it is not a point sink.
