DominicJ
how to buy them? I need a fair stack of special weapons for my assault squads. Is the sternguard the best bet?
Yorkshire Dave
GW sell seperate sprue's of Melta's, Plasma's and some others too if I remember correctly. They are metal and such but they should get the job done ;) Hope this helps! Taranis
Gw has boxes of 5 plasma guns or 5 Melta guns. Try bits traders for other items. Combi weapons are near impossible to buy. Make them your self. ;)
Sir Blayse
Actually if you can find a good deal on the commander box, then you get a combi-melta, combi-plasma, and Lightning claw. Plus, so really cool bits to add to here and there. You can usually pick up a box for 15 to 20 US on ebay. I think it's worth that for all the stuff you can do with it. Freman Bloodglaive
I use these for combi-meltas. http://bitspudlo.com/spree/products/4320/product/005.jpg?1303766365
Xenith
Just to note, you get no special weapons in the sternguard box.
Sir Blayse
I got both a combi-plasma and a combi-melta in my sternguard box. I had to do some custom work to get both on them, but wasn't too bad. Of course this was the metal figure, though I'm pretty sure the finecast are the same models.
Lysere
They are indeed. I'd use that extra one they came with but I'm better at just making them myself. Since I have more plasma and melta guns then one army could legally field.
Xenith
I got both a combi-plasma and a combi-melta in my sternguard box. Again, combi weapons, not specal weapons that assault marines can take. Why spend £25 on sternguard for 1 melta and 1 plasma (and a sternguard with no arms, afterwards) when you can buy a melta gun pack from GW and get 5 for ~£6. If you have a Templar themed army you can also just use the Black Templar upgrade kit. You get 2 of each in that, after my second one I already have more special weapons then I can use. Sir Blayse
Oh, I missed the fact he needed specials for his assault squads... I thought he was trying to get specials for Sternguard, not sure how I mixed that up. I usually trade bits with other players at my LGS, a lot of them don't really use their meltas. So I can usually get a few for easy trades. Also the GW pack is the best option, but it may not be available for too long, would be nice to see that as a finecast run.
