Chapter house Iconoclast land Raider conversion kit

Recommended Posts

I'm thinking of giving my Thousand sons a land raider, and I love the MIIb but it is way to expensive, and people have recomended the iconoclast conversion kit from chapter house as a sutible way of converting a regular land raider kit to look like one, looking at their site, I also like the look of some of their banded shoulder pads. The question is, what are people's experience with these kits? and with postage/delivery and payment with Chapterhouse, do they accept paypal?

My buddy has some of their stuff. He got it because it looked different and was cheap but he openly admits in the end it's rather poorly done. The fit isn't really there and the sculpting is really soft.

I personally just think their stuff looks like crap I could do myself and to a better standard compared to some of the other aftermarket stuff out there.

You may feel other wise.

On the otherr stuff I think they take paypal but I'm not sure and I have no idea how they are on shipping outside the US.

I bought the stormraven extension kit from them & I was pretty pleased with it. No major warping or flaws of any kind in what amounted to a less than $30 kit. Sadly, I cannot say the same for forgeworld, I bought a $130 proteus from them to get a 3" long wrinkle in one side, a pair of right hand sponsons & a broken track piece that's missing the part that broke off making a repair impossible. Not to mention that calling them from the West coast was a pain in the ass & costly.

So, FWIW, I feel for the price at least in my experiences, chapterhouse is better for the money thus far. BTW though, there's this guy named Eli Patoroch who has a set of templates for the MKIIB, the sponsons off which are very easy to make & look just fine after built if you add some rivets in the right places & icons & such for details.

I bought the Stormraven stretch kit - WIP here - post 60

and the DA LRC door set and LCs - Here - posts 11 & 14

The Stretch kit was slightly warped but bent back with hot water. It needed a little filling but so did my FW stuff.

The LCs where perfect - no problems at all

The LRC door set needed a heavy trimming of the flash but apart from that not bad.

My biggest "complaint" was a delay in posting of approx. 1 month with no communication received until I started to nag. The excuse given for the delay was understandable but it would have been nice to have been kept up to date.

I would use them again but not for any last minute jobs ie for the E Tenebrae Lux vox :D

I bought the Iconoclast Land Raider conversion kit as a birthday present for myself in February and it took a lot longer to arrive than I thought it would.

This was probably down to HMRC and the lovely Royal Mail as well as Chapterhouse delays. As Chapterhouse resides in the USA and as they had written the cost of the parts was over £15.00 on the customs sticker, HMRC charged me around £3.00 in VAT and then Royal Mail charged me a further £8.00 to collect the fee. Please bear this extra £11.00 charge in mind. This pushes the conversion kit into a more expensive proposition than you may wish to pay for.

When I finish my current Imperial Outpost project, I will move onto using the LR Iconoclast kit. My initial impression upon unpacking was it looks good, but I plan on removing all of the rivets, which are far to large to look right on a SM vehicle.

Regards, Brother Morgan.

I was very happy with the Extend-a-Raven kit I got from CH, as well as their jump packs. Sadly, the jump packs did not include fins as shown in the picture; when I asked why, I was told that the fins were too much of a hassle to ship them, so they were no longer included. Still, even without the fins, the packs look excellent.

Less happy with the "Dragon/Salamander Rhino Doors", because it was two of the same door, meaning if you put it on an actual Rhino, one dragon head ends up looking backwards.

I also have a bagful of pewter dragon braziers, which have the same problem, meaning you cannot put them on two sides of the same vehicle. I guess I could stick them on the front of something. Or on the back. I don't know.

I tried their "techmarine backpack", it's decent enough but is clearly sized for the tru-scale range. The pack, and especially the servo arm, look too large and ridiculous on GW PA models.

On a personal note, I'm very much put off by their tru-scale miniature range and how blatant they are being about it.
