Stormraven to Thunderhawk

Recommended Posts

Hi all, first of all, I want it to be known that I do not own this piece.

It is the work of one of Games Workshops Staff members, based in Broadbeach, QLD, AU.

I have been given permission to post this here.

From what I can tell, it's based on two Stormravens, one placed backwards and upside-down.

The staff person will be posting a step-by-step at some stage, which I will also bring across for your viewing pleasure.

Ah nipped at the post for the topic name

I actually just found this - Kitbashed Thunderhawk which seems to look a bit more accurate.

When I have money I may just give this a go.

Was chatting about that at my local store just yesterday as it's currently doing the rounds via email amongst the store managers and I couldn't believe it hadn't gone viral yet... :D

while this looks good i believe it's still quite smaller then the real deal.

If only GW had made the storraven to look like this!

If I recall correctly, the staff member actually has a thunderhawk, and will at some stage be posting a size comparrison, which I will bring here.

He suggests this particular model is approximately 80% of the size of the "real deal."

Size aside... I think the model is a nice, cheap stand in and fits the role well, which ever WIP blog you chose to follow.

No updates on WIPs yet for this one. He's still sorting through the multitude of photos he's taken during the construction process...

I'm going to have fun bringing them all here!

There was a ThunderHawk made from 3 plastic stormravens at GamesDay. It's a shame GW have indicated they won't make any more plastic versions of Forgeworld kits. They could probably make something decent for £150. I'd rather spend £150 on a thunderhawk than a big plastic gaming table.

This one is quite good to

Cheers for linking to my blog guys!

Yeah I couldn't believe they'd posted these instructions up in public. I haven't given it a go and probably won't since the storm raven is going to be very expensive in a short while.

There's something not quite right about the photo in the OP. The main part of the ship gets way too narrow and there's not enough wings!

i think the best idea would be to use this version of a stormraven

Use that base and double it up to make the thunderhawk. it;s what i imtend to do when i get the money.

^*Stormbirds smile.png Storm Eagles are available from FW and nowhere near as big.

Although the Fireraptor gunship might be getting close to T-hawk size...we'll have to see when it comes out.

oh thanks its been like 4 months since I read Horus rising and false gods.
