Thirdfox
I'll be setting aside my other Astartes army for now and will be focusing on the more feral side of things. Using a Space Wolves Pack box, a normal Tactical Squad box and some of the bitz i've accumulated since last year, i plan on building a squad of Blood Claws, a squad of Grey Hunters, a Wolf Lord and a Rune Priest for starters. I'll expand the army later this year. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v318/thirdfox/WH40K/tacsquadwolfpack.jpg Preparing the pieces for assembly http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v318/thirdfox/WH40K/preassembly.jpg I added small strips of plastic card to the undersides of each model's feet. This is to prevent them from looking like they're sinking into the ground when i'm done basing them. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v318/thirdfox/WH40K/legspacers.jpg Sorting out the legs, torsos and various bits of each model http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v318/thirdfox/WH40K/assembledlegs.jpg The first two units i've tried building. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v318/thirdfox/WH40K/firsttwowolves.jpg Still trying to figure out how to make a Wolf Lord from all these parts. Will be back later when i've got him done. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/253438-in-the-company-of-wolves/ Share on other sites
TheDevourer
Great start, liking the look of those two models, I'll be following this with great interest. Any chance of you adding to the might of the space wolves vows for the E TENEBRAE LUX? Seeing as you are building these guys anyway :cuss The Rout could do with another great warrior to further our cause. We can't let those dress wearers win! ShinyRhino
It looks like the bare head from the tactical squad box with the topknot from an Ork glued to it. brainwashed
Ah I think you correct Rhino. Thanks! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/253438-in-the-company-of-wolves/#findComment-3075526 Share on other sites
hushrong
Definitely off to a great start. I also like the top-knot marine too! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/253438-in-the-company-of-wolves/#findComment-3075648 Share on other sites
Kassill
I like where this is going. :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/253438-in-the-company-of-wolves/#findComment-3075677 Share on other sites
StormDragon
Looking forward to seeing some paint on these guys. I really like the idea of plasticard on their feet to stop them looking like they're sinking into their base. Simple yet effective :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/253438-in-the-company-of-wolves/#findComment-3075840 Share on other sites
Thirdfox
Thanks for looking, everyone. Yeah, the head is the standard sarge head from the tactical squad box but the topknot is actually from one of the heads in the Space Wolf Pack box. Since that box comes with two of each head, i decided to give the nice fellow a haircut. :P @TheDevourer I'm honored about the invitation to join the painting challenge. However, i must respectfully decline as i doubt i will be able to get all these models painted before the deadline is up. I'm currently far from home at the moment (staying at my folk's til the end of the month, on account of a death in the family) and i left all my paints in my dungeon back home. Besides, i'm part dress wearer too. :whistling: In other news, spent most of the morning putting together the Blood Claws. Grundroth Stormheart and Runolf Brokentooth http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v318/thirdfox/WH40K/bloodclaws01.jpg Styrmir Cloudtearer and Hjarrand Einarsson http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v318/thirdfox/WH40K/bloodclaws03.jpg Aeskil Ravenfrost and Gunnar Wyrmblade http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v318/thirdfox/WH40K/bloodclaws02.jpg Jormunrek Icefist and Sigurd Bloodhowl http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v318/thirdfox/WH40K/bloodclaws04.jpg Eldgrim the Flame-Eyed and Tjolnir Grimskull http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v318/thirdfox/WH40K/bloodclaws05.jpg Sorry, i really couldn't resist giving them names. :D Group shot of the entire pack together. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v318/thirdfox/WH40K/bloodclawsgroupshot.jpg Aside from the Blood Claws, i decided to skip the generic Wolf Lord and instead created a plastic version of Ragnar Blackmane, seeing as how the Space Wolf novel was my very first taste of the 40k universe back in 2002. To honor and thank him for all the years of enjoyment that i have taken from the entire setting itself, i'll be basing my entire army around his Great Company. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v318/thirdfox/WH40K/ragnar01.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v318/thirdfox/WH40K/ragnar00.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v318/thirdfox/WH40K/ragnar02.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v318/thirdfox/WH40K/ragnar03.jpg Yeah, the pauldrons are still pretty rough. Will try to refine them over the next several days. Also, i couldn't find the Space Wolf accessories frame in any of the shops i frequent so i just gave him a standard mk. VII backpack and glued the wolf skull bit on the flat section. Group shot of the the Young King and his warriors. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v318/thirdfox/WH40K/wolfyfirstbatch.jpg Still more to come. The Grey Hunters and that Rune Priest, as soon as i figure out how to carve runes in plastic rods. :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/253438-in-the-company-of-wolves/#findComment-3075946 Share on other sites
Rayray
I think with just a hair of green stuff, that ragnar conversion will look sweet! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/253438-in-the-company-of-wolves/#findComment-3075954 Share on other sites

Thirdfox
Finally got some time to take some pictures of the next batch for this army; the Grey Hunters and the Rune Priest. Haven't been able to do much lately after my grandmother's funeral and the various family matters that came up after it. Group shot. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v318/thirdfox/WH40K/DSC00568.jpg Ulvkil Firetooth and Skarsenn Thunderhand. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v318/thirdfox/WH40K/DSC00553.jpg Magnir Deathmoon and Volgard Shadowfang. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v318/thirdfox/WH40K/DSC00555.jpg Aesgir the Bloody-handed and Osvald Threadcutter. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v318/thirdfox/WH40K/DSC00557.jpg Lifstæn Trollbane and Thorstein Gorresson. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v318/thirdfox/WH40K/DSC00559.jpg Eirik Swordbreaker and Skjaldulf Whitescar. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v318/thirdfox/WH40K/DSC00563.jpg Valkar Runeweaver. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v318/thirdfox/WH40K/DSC00567.jpg After taking the wolf head from the double-handed axe for use in the Ragnar conversion, i chopped off the upper parts and move the blade lower down the shaft. The rune(less) staff is a trimmed-down beam saber from an old HGUC GM kit. I just added some bits from the sprue's leftover and stuck them on the top and bottom. This guy's not yet finished as i still plan on further adding trinkets to his armor. Group shot with the previous batch. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v318/thirdfox/WH40K/DSC00574.jpg After this, i'm planning to expand the Blood Claw pack to a full fifteen Wolves, add in another Grey Hunter pack, a Wolf Priest and a Long Fang pack. Then maybe some Wolf Guard in Terminator armor. All shall be done once i get back from the countryside and i will post updates.
