Colonel Falkenberg
Well I have finally decided to take a few pictures of my company. I still have a ton of painting to do and with the arrival of my Stormraven, the extention kit from Chapterhouse studios and the Forgeworld razorback Lazcannon turret which I plan to use instead of the one that comes with the stormraven... i have some building to do. I also recieved my 10 marines in MKIII "Iron armour". I was goung to try my hand at a lamentors paint scheme like DV8 has done, but another forum member suggested I keep them in Blood Wraiths colours... still thinking on it, but what ever colours they end up in they will still be my second Sternguard squad. As for the painting, which I can say is a pain in the butt or this case hand for me (frost bite & broken fingers over the years tends to have the effect of my fingers cramping up after awhile when painting), is moving along. This time of year I'm off work for about 6 weeks so i try to get caught up on things... I've managed a fair bit, and may get more of the troops done, with at least the first layers done. I should also note that the basing material may look a bit plain, but has history to it.. I was in Ethiopia in 09, working near the somali border in the Ogaden desert. The sand is from that desert and all my armies will be based with it. It's the actual color and the only thing I may add to it is some grass flock. I do not claim to be a great or even good painter. My goal has always been that the models look Ok at the 2' range or "gaming range". So far i think I have done that, but it's best to let other players give an honest opinon. I know I will never win a golden demon, but I don't think they look like total crap either. I also don't have a problem picking models up from ebay that have nice paint jobs... I wont show them here cause, hey, I did not paint them. The one exceptionis one of my Objective makers... still have to do something with the base, but when I found this on ebay, I had to have it... you will know which one I'm talking about. You will have to excuse the quality of the photos... some I had to toss as the close ups were to fuzzy. I will add new ones once I get a better camera. My death Company had a change, and I'm not sure if its good or not. I did not want a tradition paint job for my DC, nor did I want white. I decided on grey. That seemed ok but lacked something. Decides to use the Baal wash on them, then a black wash again to tone down the red some... the effect was different. I'll let you judge, but most likely they will stay that way for sometime to come as i have spent a fair amount of time on them and it time to move on.
