Byronic's WiP thread: Stormtalon

Hi guys, first time poster here B)

Recently when I've painted up something I've been posting it on the army-specific forums, and I've found that's where I get the most helpful feedback, I am constantly looking to improve, whether it's stuff I paint for eBay, commission, or myself, and the specialised forums tend to have the people in the know :D.

I'm very good at rabling, as I'm sure will become apparent, but I'll keep this one brief, I have painted up the new flier to sell on eBay and would love some feedback, this is the first ultramarine model I've ever painted (I have no idea how that's happened), and I've loved painting in blue!

I've written a brief blog post with a couple of WiP pictures and a brief review:

Here it is on y desk (apologies for the photo quality/background, sneaky Necrons get everywhere!)

and here's a cropped one in case you're on a narrow screen or something.

I'm open to all feedback, there's no worry about causing offence etc, it is impossible for your opinion to be wrong :)

Cheers for looking,

Byron

Good work man, you smashed that out pretty quickly!

How did you prep the glass for painting?

Based off the pic from his blog and the one here (where you can see some bleeding around the cockpit framing) I'd say he masked it.

@ Redscorps + Kurgan,

Pretty much spot on :D However I glued it purposely 'lightly' the first time round so I could pull it off one the rest of the model was painted to paint the frames on it, I masked it in production and it was one of the points where I held the model, so the paint would have got pulled off by pressure/masking tape.

@Rafen + MrHavoc Thanks guys, I'm in the same camp as a few people I think: initially I initially thought it looked a bit too square, but in real life it looks far more agile and a bit more nippy, which is what it should look like in my limited 40k knowledge opinion :D

EDIT: Please follow the forum rules and stick to Power Armor only. Xenos images have been removed. -- Kurgan

Both are thumnails to my gallery where there's a few more views of it.

If anyone's interested it's up on eBay:

  • 1 month later...

The talon looks good,Is it for the smurfs? The necrons would look better if they had a marine over them for a killing blow :)

Careful since this is PA only forum the Mods/Admins will come down hard if you keep posting up non PA models
