Kicking things off with a repost of my vow for ETL, as well as my started picture for half of my Vow.

“I brother Rybnick answer the challenge of the Unforgiven and vow to complete

1x Rune Priest w/ Chooser of the Slain

2x Wolf Guard each w/ Combi-Melta and Powerfist

2x Wolf Guard each w/ Combi-Plasma and Wolfclaw

8 man Grey Hunter Squad w/ Meltagun, wolf standard and Rhino

9 man Grey hunter Squad w/ Metlagun, wolf standard and Rhino

2x 5 man Grey Hunter Squad w/ Plasmagun and a Lascannon/TL PLasma Gun Razorback

Longfang squad w/ squad leader, 2x missile launcher and 2x heavy bolter

Longfang squad w/ squad leader, 2x missile launcher and 2x lascannon

10x Fenrisian Wolves

from Codex: Space Wolves of total value 1277 on or before August 15. Success will bring eternal glory to the Space Wolves chapter and failure will doom me to bear the sign of damnation until the year-end”

And here is the starter pic

med_gallery_53757_6058_791535.jpg

Pictured assembled above are 1 WG w/ fist and combi-melta, 9 Grey Hunters 1 w/ melta and wolf standard, and the Rhino they ride in as well as 10 fenrisian wolves.

Two of the GH I got a small start on before I took my ETL picture and they are about 65% done the rest of the squad has been base coated army painter wolf grey and then washed twice w/ devlan mud. the fenrisian wolves have been base coated wolf grey and 5 of them have been based with XV-88, still not sure if I'm going to do a 100% brown wolf force but I'm really leaning that way because having multiple colors in packs I think might make my OCD brain explode.

In the large sprue box in the picture is the other half of what I have at the momment, it contains 5 grey hunters w/ a plasma gun a WG w/ wolf claw and combi plasma and Razorback (minus the turret which is in the mail from chapter house), 3 long fangs (1 lascannon 2 heavy bolters) and 1 squad leader.

Currently in the mail I've got a SW battleforce, Finecast Rune Priest, 2 more Rhino chassis and 2 landspeeders (to be done in the second part of my vow if I finish this first phase).

I'm going to try and update this thread with my progress at least once a week, but if I get some stuff done that I'm excited to show off it will be more often :P

Picture update as promised! I managed to snap a few quick pics after the basketball game last night (go Thunder!), they aren't the highest quality but they get the general idea across. Once I finish a squad or two properly I'll take the time to take some good pictures.

bits and pieces of two long fang squads (going 2 squads w/ 2ML/Lascannon and 2ML/heavy bolter load outs)

These guys are about 85% done, still need to add pack/GC markings (just ordered some decals and other bits from Forge World yesterday!) and do the basing (I hate basing so I usually finish 25 or so marines and then base them in a huge assembly line). The Razorback still needs a lot of work, I got the turret in from chapterhouse yesterday so I can get started on that soon and then a lot of detail work.

I also nearly finished up 10 fenrisian wolves (I know they are only worth 80 points for the challenege but I LOVE the models!) but the pic I took turned out so bad on them it wasn't even worth posting. They need a highlight and then they are done.

Let me know what you guys think of my work so far, still lot's more to come!

Thank you Brother Rylanor!

I actually am doing a pretty weird paint syle with my wolves (or at least it seems weird to me). I stole the basic idea from a blog (I can't seem to find the link to anymore), but I'll detail what I do below.

I base the entire model with army painter wolf grey spray, then wash the model with devlan mud twice to give it a really dark guide shade (my starter picture shows some GH in that stage with the shoulders painted). From there I paint just the larger armor plates with Russ grey and leave the recesses the darker shade, then a light edge highlight with fenrisian grey. It's pretty quick and easy once you get the hang of it.

for the rest of the model I use

- Balthazar gold for armor trim accents

- Cadian flesh with a wash of gryphon sepia then ogryn flesh and a highlight of cadian flesh for faces

- Red's are all just Mephiston red

- Fur bits are mournfang brown with a highlight of lighter brown (the name escapes me at the momment)

- any type of lens (helmet/scope/etc) I paint a flat white and then wash with thraka green a few times

- metal bits (and armor ridges) are all boltgun metal, with a light wash of devlan mud

Over all I really like how they are turning out and they really don't take much time to get done.
