no stormtalon for us, but what will we get?

walking was good enough for Russ so it's good enough for his sons right

 God I hate that fluff from the 3rd ed. dex which they pulled from the nethers.

Don't assume SW players really believe or care about the proposed fear of flying.

The Sky Warriors have a fear of flying?

Yea, you know the guys who leave their home world, fly throughspace, get shot out of tubs in barrels, go toe to toe with daemons, wield the power of storms, ride around in thunderhawks, yet are afraid to fly/pilot another type of gunship? Ya, you know, the guys who know no fear.

Yes, you know them. The ones that are afraid of teleportation!

I'm thinking what we'll see is a list of chapter specific variants coming out for the storm talon similar to how the contemptor dread is.

I'm thinking we won't see a damn. Remember all that fuss with Stormraven, like there will a WD with an update so all SM Chapters will be allowed to use it, not only Grey Knights and Blood Angels? Where was that WD? It never came into existance. Same pattern for StormTalon. mark my words.

True. Well, we can settle for that Leman Russ, GW. We're reasonable :D

I can understand teleportation. That is not the same as flying.....dematerializing and the rematerializing somewhere else (quite possibly in side a mountain). Is completely different than flying right at or possibly into the mountain. We wolves like to see things coming. :D. I'm not pressed about if we did or did not get the stormraven/stormtalon/landspeederstorm/thunderfirecannon/yadayadayada, i'm just peeved about a wee bit of fluff that doesn't make sense when you look at the big picture. Fleets of spaceships that warp from one place to another (space wolves even have special priveleges when it comes to their relationship with navigator house), wholesale planetary destruction, the thing of nightmares becoming real and tangible, yet space wolves don't fly? Really? How do we propose to do our jobs? Thumb a ride? Take the bus? It's a paradox in logic.
Could this 'fear of flying' stem from a dislike of not being the master of one's own fate rather than actual fear. Example - you can get shot out of the sky/void by the opposition without your average grey hunter (or Russ himself) being able to do anything what-so-ever about it  . The same applies to teleportation - no wolf wants to materialise half way through a floor/wall, their culture really focuses dying under the blades of the enemy... dying with red snow at their feet and wounds to the fore. At least you can duck when on foot... or run faster at the enemy :D

We've had a bit of a fluff deviation here- Space Wolves have never had a fear of flying, hence the use of Land Speeders, Thunderhawks, Drop Pods, Strike Cruisers, and Battle Barges. Adding additional aircraft to this list with a possible new release does nothing against established background material.

Space Wolves differ from all other Astartes in two big ways (that are relevant to this discussion): 1) they prefer not to teleport, and 2) they prefer not to use Jump Packs. The later is often justified with the catchphrase, "prefer to fight on their feet as Russ intended". This cannot be taken as a serious and literal prohibition, however, as many Space Wolves units don't actually fight on their "feet", including: Armoured vehicle crews, Swift Claws, Thunderwolf Cavalry, Speeder pilots, etc.

We should take the "as Russ intended" motto as it was designed, which, according to Jervis himself was simply to restrict use of teleportation and to reduce use of Jump Infantry, as a simple army list design feature that he included to offset all of the many advantages that he had given Space Wolves over other Marines, such as Acute Senses, True Grit, and Counterattack.

I am certain GW will want marine players of all chapters to buy their big shiny expensive flyer kits, so I would not be surprised if both the Stormraven AND Stormtalon get FAQ'd or something into our codex in 6th edition. After seeing some of the fantastic conversions that people have done to both of these models I can safely say I want 'em both! :)

Raven perhaps, but why bother with the Talon? I mean, if rumours are true, 6th will be out about a month after the Talon. Why not just give it us right off the bat in the case?

Can we have Land Krakken please? :( you know... like tomb scorpions from WHFB .. but you know <.< krakken ..?

In all seriousness though, i agree that i don't think we will see anything new for a long while. They gave us our thundercav/arjac/etc and now we won't see anything for a while. Especially since the dress wearers seem like they are going to be the new poster boys in 6th..

..oh well, more of them to kill :cuss

I also believe that GW will want our money for their little Cardboard-boxtalon model, but like Valerian already pointed out, we where supposed to see the update giving all Astartes access to the Stormchicken. We never saw it. And since marines take up a large chunk of playable armies in the 40K universe, it does only make sence that we just might see a flying something in the near future, but do we really need it?? I don't think so. What we need are new sculpts for ancient hero's who are begining to show their age... I suppose that is a tad off topic, but what I am saying is this:

I waited two goddamn years for GW to release Thunderwolf Cavalry, I'll be damned if I am going to hold my breath that long ever again.

End of Line

Can't see a GW FAQ to bring flyers into every codex. Especially as they would lose sales, I mean, you'd have to buy a GK or BA army if you want to play the Storm Chicken. Vanilla marines for the Storm Brick. And of course, once you've bought the Chicken you then need the nipple wing, Death Co,Paladins, Draigo etc.....

Me, cynical? Yes.

Well said a common mistake many

Well said it appears though that lot of players are under that misunderstanding.

Also Emperors Gift demostrates Space wolves will teleport if they have to they just hate the sensation(not fear it)

Kit bashed a Storm Talon and a Landspeeder so that I can use my 'Storm Claw' as both. The front of the missile pods are removable and I want to drill and pin a weapon point underneath the cockpit to allow various weapon options.

Wow, that looks pretty cool! Can we get some shot from the sides and at different angles?

I feel like Games Workshop going on Flickr and posting pics of Stormtalons is kinda misleading when they show them painted in Space Wolf Gray without any disclaimer like "Officially, Space Wolves can't field this...etc"
