How do DA players do their power weapons?

Recommended Posts

Im currently painting a large number of DA, and am having trouble deciding how i should paint my power weapons through the army. My usual colour is blue for power weapons but with my DA being green of course & red, im not sure if having another primary colour will work!

Once I work this out Ill be able to finish my terminator squads, as currently progress as stopped on those while i decide!

For me that's not a problem at all. I have green power armor, red robes and blue power weapons on some of my marines. I'll be uploading some pics later this day anyway so I'll upload a piccie of those as well.

For what its worth - here is Sammi with power sword.

The effect is done using Enchanted blue / Ice Blue / dots of White on a black sword drybrushed in Codex grey.

Sorry - not the best picture :)

I will be doing the same thing on my incoming TH and LCs for my Deathwing.

As many as I can get my hands on.....

Sammy has a Sword of Secrets which is cut from the same block of obsidian that Azzys sword is cut from...

I use boltgun with a blue wash and sometimes a chainmail or mithril drybrush...

I use Company Veteran's method from his WIP thread from this years LPC (I'll edit in a linky). The best thing about it, is you can substitute his colours for your own preferance. He uses white/gray, I've gone for blue, but both reds and purples work.

So this is my run at Company Veteran's method

I actually just do mine in Boltgun Metal (bulk buy before the new paints came out). All my close combat weapons are chainswords, so it's pretty easy to distinguish special close combat weapons from mundane ones in my army.
