Brother Tancred
Managed to get some more done on the deathwing today, http://i363.photobucket.com/albums/oo73/CallumM27/DSCN0475.jpg and the current group shot http://i363.photobucket.com/albums/oo73/CallumM27/DSCN0477.jpg Really liking how these guys look and if power weapons are going to be effected as the rumors say (only 4 days to go :D ) then they might be an auto include in all my lists. Brother Tancred
Really nice DW! Those red hands really look cool...nice contrast! Well I thought that with the weapon casings and straps being red it would add a little more cohesion to the force :jaw: Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/253694-painting-some-green/page/2/#findComment-3097008 Share on other sites

Brother Tancred
Hi guys, managed to get some time in to finish off the Deathwing and start the second tactical squad http://i363.photobucket.com/albums/oo73/CallumM27/DSCN0479.jpg http://i363.photobucket.com/albums/oo73/CallumM27/DSCN0480.jpg http://i363.photobucket.com/albums/oo73/CallumM27/DSCN0481.jpg So not including the bases (which I plan to do last) that is 16/26 models for the vow. Hope to get the second tactical squad mostly done over this weekend so more to come :) Cheers Tancred Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/253694-painting-some-green/page/2/#findComment-3100665 Share on other sites
Brother Tancred
Just another quick update, managed to get quite a bit done on the second tactical squad and played around with some freehand of the chapter markings. http://i363.photobucket.com/albums/oo73/CallumM27/DSCN0515.jpg http://i363.photobucket.com/albums/oo73/CallumM27/DSCN0516.jpg Also as a break from my vow I built the apothecary and standard bearer for Belial's command squad: http://i363.photobucket.com/albums/oo73/CallumM27/DSCN0518.jpg http://i363.photobucket.com/albums/oo73/CallumM27/DSCN0521.jpg Not sure about the load out of the other 3 members of the squad will be. At the moment I'm leaning towards a pair of lightning claws, assault cannon/chainfist and the final guy either TH/SS or PF/SB so I have a little extra shooting. Let me know what you all thing :P Cheers Brother Tancred Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/253694-painting-some-green/page/2/#findComment-3110819 Share on other sites
Magnus Thane
I'm so jealous of your painting skillzzzz :) Your freehanding is awesome. Brother Tancred
I'm so jealous of your painting skillzzzz :)Your freehanding is awesome. I wish i had that steady a hand <_< It all comes with practice mate, I've been in the hobby for 7 years and I've only now started to have the confidence to try some freehand. And drum roll please ... VOW COMPLETE!!! http://i363.photobucket.com/albums/oo73/CallumM27/DSCN0523.jpg Some close ups of the two recently completed units http://i363.photobucket.com/albums/oo73/CallumM27/DSCN0524.jpg http://i363.photobucket.com/albums/oo73/CallumM27/DSCN0527.jpg Cheers Brother Tancred Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/253694-painting-some-green/page/2/#findComment-3115911 Share on other sites
Brother Tancred
Need some advice now, what do you all think is the better shoulder pad: A: http://i363.photobucket.com/albums/oo73/CallumM27/DSCN0529.jpg B: http://i363.photobucket.com/albums/oo73/CallumM27/DSCN0530.jpg I like them both but part of me prefers B but not 100% sure :) Also if someone has the codex handy (Sadly don't have mine at the moment) a land speeder with multi-melta and heavy flamer option. This will allow me to add it to my next vow <_< Cheers Brother Tancred Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/253694-painting-some-green/page/2/#findComment-3115933 Share on other sites
Brother Tancred
Has anyone got any ideas on the shoulder pads options? Another idea is the shoulder pad for the champion in the command sprue which I'd attempt to freehand the DA insignia into the reinforced armour on the top as an etching in gold ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/253694-painting-some-green/page/2/#findComment-3116335 Share on other sites
facmanpob
I prefer option A.....but then I do like that shoulder pad more than any other I think so maybe I'm biased! :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/253694-painting-some-green/page/2/#findComment-3116365 Share on other sites
Bryan Blaire
I think that on the Librarian, I'd prefer Option A. As far as a Landspeeder with Multi-Melta and Heavy Flamer, the DA Codex doesn't have that option. Interrogator Stobz
Well done on your vow, option B normally for me but on a Libby option A looks good too. :tu: stobz Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/253694-painting-some-green/page/2/#findComment-3117100 Share on other sites
egon1six
i like option A. And yes a LS with MM/ HF is a viable option. PG 85 in codex. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/253694-painting-some-green/page/2/#findComment-3117340 Share on other sites
Bryan Blaire
Oh, damn, very interesting! I don't think I've ever even looked at that entry for anything other than the Typhoon upgrade. Don't really understand the one per unit limit, but there are a lot of design decisions I don't really get in this book. Brother Tancred, ignore me and rock and roll! Brother Tancred
Thanks for your oppinions guys, I ended up choosing the champion pad as I liked the look of it more as well as option A I've already used on my chaplain. I want each of my HQ models to be unique so thought it would be better to use something different. I've spent a bit of time today painting the librarian and really pleased with the results: http://i363.photobucket.com/albums/oo73/CallumM27/DSCN0536.jpg Still needs the gold doing and maybe another highlight on the sword. Let me know what you think. Louis
Fantastic work Brother Tancred, really like the glowing eyes effect on the Librarian. I really like the cohesion of the overall force and the freehand insignia, it looks like an army not just a collection of models. Really impressed with the timescale too, a whole army in a matter of weeks is great going. So what is next? Brother Tancred
Just before I complete my Librarian for Vow 2 I wanted to an opinion on his base. I want to add this fallen helmet to add a bit of narrative to the model (like he has just stepped over this rock to find a Fallen marine and now he is going all creepy eyes ;)) but not sure wear to place it on the base. http://i363.photobucket.com/albums/oo73/CallumM27/DSCN0541.jpg http://i363.photobucket.com/albums/oo73/CallumM27/DSCN0542.jpg So front or back? I'm thinking it might go better on the back as the front has a significant amount of detail already but wanted to see if anyone else had any thoughts on it first. Isiah
Nice. I like the high-contrast style you've adopted to treat the tabbard. Great detail on him – but glad you got rid of the helmet on the base as it was a bit fussy I think. The gold-on-gold DA emblem is pure awesome sauce. FinylCut
Brother Tancred: The librarian looks quite potent - especially the eyes. The freehand on the shoulder is fantastic; the multiple colors give it nice depth. I also like your blues which do not look smurfy in the least.
