Adeptus-Alaska
Now don't say I didn't warn you! I am beginning to gather my unforgiven for an Apocalypse army. So many decisions, DA or any of the amazing successors. As I have an already huge Black Templar army, heresy era is out. I dont want to paint that much black........ever again. and I just finished a 2000pts Grey knight comission, so the GotC is out as well( well maybe, they look slick!). I have decided that I really like painting green. Who knew? This is the plan, paint enough of the big three (being green/death/ravenwing), to field my force as DW, RW, GW, or when I play apoc, bring the full fury of the inner circle down on my enemies. Yes, that'll do nicely. I am a kitbash and conversion whore! so this wip log will be busy at times and slow when I'm in the lab...MWAHAHAHAHAHAHA. I always like too see if there are more creative ways to do things. expect to see stuff like DAs with chain mail. Is it nessecary, well, no. Is it in the rule of cool, I think so. But you don't want to here what I have say do you? No this is just like maxim I think, you want pictures don't you. You know you do. first a group shot of what I have on hand to commit to this project. http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/i438/furioso-prime/171.jpg this is what I'll be starting on http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/i438/furioso-prime/DarkAngels001.jpg now it's on to some details of what I've done so far First up, dreadnaughts. http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/i438/furioso-prime/DarkAngels015.jpg some of them are gonna be very practical as others will be walking shrines. it all depends on the personality of the Brother interred in the sarcofigus. My first one is a standard dread w/ LC/ML. I know it's an original and radical armament choice , but mainly he is a lesson of less is more. the only extravegant thing about him is his banner, he chose it as he was called the angel of death by his 1st company commander. it stuck. here he is. http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/i438/furioso-prime/DarkAngels016.jpg and his weapons, partially painted. http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/i438/furioso-prime/DarkAngels017.jpg the other ones are 2 FW, and an old school metal(still love em) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/253698-primes-angels/ Share on other sites

DucAvieux
I am a kitbash and conversion whore! To sponsor your addiction to the vapors of plastic glue? But seriously: W-o-w! You are actually planning on painting all of that? You are one brave brother of our legion. Here: have some moral support, you deserve it :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/253698-primes-angels/#findComment-3078839 Share on other sites
Adeptus-Alaska
well here we go with round two, the (soon to be) greenies! I don't know where I got half the crap I have but it's time to use it I think. 1st up is going to be my first D-squad armed with 4 missile launchers. http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/i438/furioso-prime/DarkAngels011.jpg I'm guessing they're FW MLs next is some assaulty guys w/o J-packs http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/i438/furioso-prime/DarkAngels009.jpg and a close up of 1 http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/i438/furioso-prime/DarkAngels010.jpg don't know where I got the heresy armour, but hey... now for some knight-ish assault guys that're gonna have J-packs http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/i438/furioso-prime/DarkAngels012.jpg see tunics and chain maill......madness I tell you! now a couple of shots of some of my veterans http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/i438/furioso-prime/DarkAngels014.jpg http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/i438/furioso-prime/DarkAngels013.jpg the second one is an experiment. I wanted a guy resting his hand on the pommel of his sheathed sword. I hope he turns out. and this is a bin of greenies that i know I got off ebay... http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/i438/furioso-prime/DarkAngels020.jpg so, watcha think? will it do as a start? Adeptus-Alaska
Now for the fun.....TERMIES BABY! they are prolly be what I put the most work into.... the need it, they're all second hand. First is a concept knock up of what I think my Belial will be like. http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/i438/furioso-prime/DarkAngels007.jpg like I said....chain mail. here is the model I MIGHT use. http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/i438/furioso-prime/DarkAngels008.jpg He was gonna be a BT marshal but I need a Belial. here are some knightly termies in the works. http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/i438/furioso-prime/DarkAngels005.jpg these will have robes over the chain mail eventually. this will be Belials command squad http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/i438/furioso-prime/DarkAngels002-1.jpg here are close ups of the CMLand Apothecary http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/i438/furioso-prime/DarkAngels004.jpg http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/i438/furioso-prime/DarkAngels003.jpg for some reason I really like how the medic came out. decent pose, I think. I might give the belial command squad robes. as I prefer to put the mini together and then sculpt robes it'll still work. that way you can sculpt them with wrinkles that look like things such as hip plates and gear actually have weight. well cheers for now. FerociousBeast
You know, I often wonder how GW can stay in business with their frequent price raises. Now I know... Well done, brother, and good luck with the massive project! I also enjoy converting, far more than painting actually, so most of my minis never get past the grey and green stage like yours above. EPK
Nice green stuff work on the chainmail hauberks (I know they look like skirts, but who wants to say that, we are already in dresses) and the robes that go over them. Adeptus-Alaska
thanks guys! it means alot coming from you guys. Well I might be saying good bye to green stuff. Procreate is an amazing medium to work in, it's ridiculous. but I might try blending GS with miliput. just to see if that will work for me. And I am making my own washes now, so I am waiting on my order from dick blick art supply to come in. OH, I found a great fix for uncooperative paint......liquitex brand flo-aid. just mix it 1/10 with distilled water. when thats done mix it 50/50 or 1/3 thinner to 2/3 paint as prefered. this $#!+ is like magic for paint!!! -_- but the flo-aid mix is also in the wash recipe I use. so I gotta wait. dammit! update on the army. well supplies any ways. the wife told me to order what I want for fathers day...........looks like I'll be getting that casting kit sooner than I thought. As was already stated: WFB: Empire general/standard bearer kit yes, the banner is from the empire. the death angel is holding a hammer though. I made the scythe blade out of tyranid warrior scythe arm, I had a few left over from a commission for a friend. never be afraid to look at the unorthodox for a proper kit-bash! Adeptus-Alaska
quick update....... well I wont be working on my DAs today that much. :D I have to shop for supplies. I am buying some green stuff, procreate, white stuff, brown stuff, FIMO, and some armature wire. It seems that GW, in thier infinite wisdom has not caught up to our creativity yet. so, I guess i'll just have to sculpt some custom stuff, up to and including whole models! I am also taking the plung and buying some clay shapers and wire clay tools, I bet they are great for milliput, and yes some of my bestwork has been just millput. and I have to get my ingredients for my homemade washes. I don't like the ones on the market. so that's my day. But I really wanna paint my dread......I am almost done with his weapons. Adeptus-Alaska
Soooooooooo, well, real life has a way of happening. but, I have finished a pair of dread arms(pics to come), and have recieved most of my orders. I have also started to pick up the trusty drawing pencils again and begun to map out some.....okay, a lot of conversions. some will be simple, like sculpted pauldrons. some will be more, like full sculpts when I work up the nerve. but, the the whole army has evolved into an Apocalypse force. more on that later Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/253698-primes-angels/#findComment-3085777 Share on other sites
Adeptus-Alaska
well, I am done with the TLLC and DML. I had hoped to paint quicker, but oh well. first, a kinda head on shot. http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/i438/furioso-prime/darkangels002-2.jpg second, a more static view. http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/i438/furioso-prime/darkangels001-2.jpg the missile launcher. http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/i438/furioso-prime/darkangels003-1.jpg and hopefully, detail on the launcher. http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/i438/furioso-prime/darkangels004-1.jpg I know, I know, the Inquisition symbol.... well MY Unforgiven are not afraid of the the big =][=....... they'll never find our secret..... they are not that smart ;) hopefully, this'll hold you. sadly, I am not the best painter. but I can get tabletop standard.
