kataklysm
Hey guys! So I have started a pretty adventerous new project, Carcharodon marines in a swamp world. Slowly but surely i have started to accumulate everything I need through the mail. From forgeworld marines and tanks to swamp bases (secret weapon miniatures), "magic Water" which is probably the best water effect that I have ever used. Now the last piece of the puzzle is mud. (and lots of it) searching around the tubes i found AK Interactive's website and this kit in particular: Ak Interactive, awesome mud set! Does anyone have any experience with it at all? If so, how much mud do you think i can get out of it? Tips, tricks or user warnings? jerryrich
no experience with the product but i happen to know that you can save money with alittle bit of dirt from outside or some sawdust and white or woodglue. Just mix the filler material and the glue till you get the consistancy you want. apply to stuff, let dry. if you want a wetter look to the mud after it dries, add more wood glue. Works wonders for many projects. the sawdust + wood glue is one i use in both miniatures and making furniture (i hate seeing hard ware and am too lazy to cut nice plugs for painted pieces). Araziel
Again, no experience with the product you linked, but I've had great success with using charcoal and cheap, sticky paint (the cheaper the paint, the better). You smash the charcoal to smithereens, and then mix it in with the paint and apply it as you see fit. Then you paint, highlight it etc, and viola. I even added clumps of grass on tank tracks for added realism. Tanhausen
I've used also de sawdust + PVA glue... Or my own sculpted resin bases... Just give it a gloss varnish finish to give it a wet aspect and its usually good to go. Can't help out with the product review... twofour878
I use PVA glue, cheap craft acrylic, and a mix of different size tiny pebbles for the mud on my tank tracks. I have yet to do it on a larger base but switching the pebbles for the sawdust should be better for things like dread bases and such.
