Elite.gifElite.gifElite.gif Well, it's that time of the year again!

Elite.gif Greetings Brothers, I felt it was time to show my first wip pics for my E Tenebrae Lux Vow. Good news, I am expanding my Vow now:

I, JeffJedi answer the challenge of the Unforgiven and vow to complete:

10 man Devastator Squad with four Lascannon 305 pts
Deathwing Librarian in Terminator Armor 145 pts
Company Master with Power Axe and Storm Bolter 120 pts
5 man Tactical Squad with Powersword 105

from Codex: Dark Angels of total value 675 points on or before August 15. Success will bring eternal glory to the Dark Angels and failure will doom me to bear the sign of damnation until the year-end.

Awesome sauce. Teh metal libby is a marvelous relic from a bygone age and you've done him great justice. Chapter master looks regal and the push-fit DA look surprisingly menacing in their ready for anything poses. Congrats on the vow completion.

Great job! I've started my own DA army this week and I'm pushing to get mine done. I love that old metal termie.

I have some old terminators myself. I wasn't going to paint them but after seeing yours I'm gonna paint one up and sneak it into a game and see if anyone notices!

Chapter and failure will doom me to bear the Badge of Shame until

the year-end.

For the Emperor and the Lion!!!

Looks good!

Just a question; is the libby on bike a conversion or are these available in a box? I havent been paying attention to the 'current' 40K line for a while.

Besides, termies like your libby (last year) also make me realize I have some old (not THAT old, though) termies that need a lick of paint, too.

Maybe I should vow them too, depending on time.

Nice old attackbike, too. I mean, I dont see a rail for the gun. :)

I'm going to put my completions in here and then turn this thread into a painting blog while until the next ETL. :D

As you can see from the pic above this squad was mostly old models that I stripped and redid.  They include 3 Lead miniatures and one white metal. Only the Sgt was newly built for the squad, I gave him a power axe because it is so rare in my army, Two models are actually Space Wolves, it was so hard to get heavy weapons back then and I wanted a Lascannon. There is also a Mk3 and Mk4 that I felt deserved a good paint job after 20 years.

Most recently these models were black with gold bolters and called the Revengers. They were my squad to train my brothers and cousin how to play 40k. Now they take their rightful place in my army as Dark Angels.

The next squad is the famous RTB01 Marines from Rogue Trader, the 1st edition of Warhammer 40k. When I started collecting it was shortly before 2nd edition and these figures were already out of print. I've always seen these and always wanted them but never had any until my birthday 8 days ago. My brother got them for me along with another figure I will show off later and I couldn't be happier. These were still on sprue from circa 1991, I also have the other half of the squad but will build them at a later date.

If you look at my vow from last year you will see a Master, Librarian, Devastator Squad and Tactical Squad. If you look at this years vow you will see a Master, Librarian, Devastator Squad and  one and a half Tactical Squads along with some bikes. Why? It just so happens that I have a lot of Space Marines. In fact it wouldn't be far off to say I have nearly half a Chapter of Dark Angels now.

Most have paint but most are not at the level I want them to be and very few are at the level I've managed for the ETL, So I owe thanks to Captain Semper and the rest of this forum helping me raise the bar for my miniatures.

I have an undisclosed number of Space Marine Captains, Company Masters as we know them. When I saw the newest Masters of the Chapter I didn't care for most of them but one made me zoom in and take a closer look. Mark 5 armor is hard to resist. A new head and added weapon made him cool. And what's the easiest way to add robes to a Space Marine? A Watcher in the Dark!

I tried to do justice to the ETL and its members with this one. Why haven't I been doing cool powerswords lately? I'd switched basic metal some time back. But the standard of the ETL inspired me to give it a try again, to make the plasma core look right and to try a lens effect.

Fun fact, this is the only model I have that is made up of Resin, Plastic and Metal all at once.

Looking good, man! I have about that many guys to work on, wish I had the willpower to just get it done. I end up working on friend's models more often though because 1) I am a damn good friend, and 2) supplemental income is awesome.

I like the master of the relics conversion a lot. I've thought about picking up the assault captain one of the new models because if I had the skill to greenstuff some robes on it, I think he'd make a pretty sweet Dark Angel but alas, my backlog groweth.

  • 10 months later...

I thought I would throw together all my models for the ETL3 in this thread.

Just throwing in my last two completions for the ETL3 here:

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y92/JeffJedi/Vow3/ETL3Tech1_zpsaed6a198.jpg

Now my next task is to bring older paint jobs up to standard and finish off all my projects that I haven't.

They are from Space Hulk 1st edition, but my were from Tyranid Attack. My first boxed game shortly before 2nd edition came out*

*I recasted them to learn resin casting. Turns out it is far easier to do a days work and buy the real figures than to cast on your day off.

Here's a pic of my forces in battle:

No enemies around because Dakka, Lascannon and Plasma. :D

and here's the next model I will paint, a Space Wolf Iron Priest for a penance vow:
