Glow in the dark paint?

Recommended Posts

I read in the fluff that the runes on runic armour glow in battle. I though it'd be cool if the runes my Rune Priest Terminator did this when it was dark. Has anyone ever tried this? How do you think Id go about doing it?

EDIT: I'm coloring my runes with Iyanden Darksun and keeping it simple, but I do have a pot of Sunburst Yellow (I hate that stuff) lying around. If I could make that stuff glow, it would actually be usable.

You can buy glow-in-the-dark paint from several different model paint manufacturers; I know for sure Humbrol and Revell (the German side of it, no idea about the American one) had some in their ranges at one point.

I don't know of any stores that sell Humbrol or Revell paints. I also don't want to have to deal with shipping because it's not really that much of a priority thing for me. I really just want to show off how cool I am to the rest of my local GW. None of my local stores sell glow in the dark paint either... Thanks anyway.

A local modelling shop here sells glow-in-the-dark pigment you can mix with a base you like.

But it's probably easier just to get the paint.

I know the pigment is color specific, but I did find an off-site article on making your own powder. I'd just need to figure out which reactant makes it orange or yellow. So yeah, it would be easier just to buy the paint.

cool idea, but when was the last time you played in the dark ? ;)

ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww... :)

I suppose they're far more common in Europe than in the US, yes. But part of what I meant to say is: there are probably other manufacturers that sell such paints, which are available where you live.

TBH, they probably won't even notice … I used some day-glo yellow paint on the spinning gubbins of the mekboy with kustom force field, and it just looks like a bright, slightly greenish yellow; in daylight, that's all you'll get out of such paint, in my experience.

yeah, I don't think it's that worth it. He's one of my best paint jobs and I don't want to risk ruining him or going to all that trouble for nothing.
