lilloser
The second salvo in a series of articles entitled Citadel Legends The aim of this series of articles was inspired by Harry's This Week I Have Been Mostly Painting which focusses on painting the mountain of models I have safely tucked away somewhere, out of sight, out of mind. I own quite a few rare models in my collection and much to my shame, most of these lie tucked up safety somewhere at the Bottom of a bitz box. THIS IS NOT RIGHT! Space Marine Gamesday Captain 1991 http://i1182.photobucket.com/albums/x450/LilLoser2011/photbucket.jpg http://i1182.photobucket.com/albums/x450/LilLoser2011/photob.jpg Here is the second entry into my Citadel Legends. Here is the blog entry for the Games Day Captain from 1991 Gamesday UK. If anyone knows who the sculptor was please get in touch! Blast to paint, oozing character and menace. NoxinWolves
Great work! I love this model and this is probably the best paint job I've seen on it. Brought it up to date. Not 100% with the pink cloak mind you.

Brother-Chaplain Kage
I don't think I've ever seen that figure before. Nice painting, but is a part of the gun missing?
Inquisitor Engel
I don't think I've ever seen that figure before. Nice painting, but is a part of the gun missing? Nope. That used to pass for a bolter.
fireangel
It always bothered me, even from the early days of Rogue trader, that this miniature didn't have a pistol grip on the bolter. I never understood why? I would however love to have this model in my collection, I would simply add an old 2nd edition grip to it.
Brother-Chaplain Kage
I'm glad bolter design has evolved some, because the ones from RT and 2nd ed were wildly impractical with the magazine way up at the front of the weapon and the ejection waaaaaay back at the rear of the weapon, where the action obviously was. Even today, some of the bolters don't line up properly in that regard.
AlexCrute
If I had to guess I would say its an early Goodwin. I was 10 years old when it was released though. Can't confirm sorry.

chaptermasters
Yep it has to be Jes, I don't think anyone else was skulping space marines in 1991. I quite agree I've got too many limted models in packs waiting to be painted. I just wish they would make something other than Captains. One can have enought of a good thing. All of my painted limited editions are on the link below. http://chaptermasters.blogspot.co.uk/2012/...tion-model.html
plasman
Very nice paint job :P, although I'm not a big fan of the pink cape, but it's just a matter of taste I guess.
chaptermasters
In case you can't be bothered to follow the link, here is mine. http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-4rymWtY3nsE/T0lLzmtYOQI/AAAAAAAAAGg/DVxi0MHq6HM/s400/Ultramarine%20Gamesday%20Captain.jpg No pink cape but a bit too much blue. lilloser
Cheers for all the responses guys! I'll get back to each of you when I get back to a proper computer (type txt on mob). But what's the hate for the cape? That's not pink, it's the classic warlock purple in a hexagonal paint pot. Had to find room for such a venerable colour for a venerable miniature! An no jokes about my purple warrior; warhammer is a serious business; just look at the captains face. It's that serious. Toodles
Lachdannan
awesome model and great paintjob. Always did like the skull scabbards for the early captains. Like others I also found the lack of pistol grip curious.
lilloser
Thank you brother syth, it's always struck me as odd too. I think that there is a pistol grip, it's just extended ( so the trigger is underneath his arm pit) but I'll have to double check. Sorry, no individual responses to your nice comments again but I just want to ask what would you guys like to see painted next?
AlexCrute
I think that there is a pistol grip, it's just extendedOh you do not. Lol. Jes just clean forgot it. Got either of the old inquisiterminators? Or inaugural Grey Knight Terminators? Or the old SM captain with bionic leg, bolter, bald head, looking to his left. Same approximate vintage as the little purple warrior. Or any of Jes's original Space Wolves.
lhg033
i do love seeing new takes on old models. the cloak is a bit pink for my tastes but he rest of the model looks lovely and crisp. would love to see your take on a 2nd edition DA captain would be nice or a rogue trader style dread
lilloser
@ Alexcrute; I do have 6 of the old grey knight terminators! I shall add them to the list. @ihg033; he is a very cool miniature, however I don't own him. I have painted up a classic Deathwing force including the old metal terminator (search lilloser Deathwing in the dark Angels sub forum) Centurius seems like a popular choice for the next painted space marine. How does that sound?
