Knights Errants / Grey Knights during the Heresy

Narek as a Knight Errant would, invariably, require a solid thread of character development. Right now he hates Lorgar, but also isn't exactly a loyalist. He's more like Clint Eastwood in many of his westerns: a renegade with a cause. It may even be a cause that would elicit some sympathy from the loyalists, but that doesn't mean he is one of them.

Of course, we're also talking about the Horus Heresy. Transformative narratives are exactly what this whole thing is about. I can easily see Narek rotting away in a cell, or having his brains blown out by an Ultramarine. Just as easily, I can see him getting loose to wreak havoc on the Word Bearers, or, in a cruel twist of fate, being possessed by a demon himself. However, through his belief in the Emperor, I can see him coming around and becoming one of the most fantatical of the loyalists, perhaps a chaplain sort of individual touched by the Emperor himself.

It's all on the table. That's part of why I like him as a character. He has options going forward, and I'm not sure they are predictable ones.

Narek hates the Loyalists as much as the Traitors. He doesn't even have "For the good of the Imperium" going for him.

and sevatar seems to be his own man too but yet he is also on the list of potentials.

both have character developments that could, or could not, end up with them being one of these chaps.

No offense, but he is only on the list of potentials because he gets nosebleeds and has a chainglaive.

Narek has less than that.

True, that is the now, not the future. In five years, I could be wrong.

Must... resist... discussion... on... Sev...

Didn't Guilliman order Narek to be executed after more questioning? I doubt that his fate is just going to be execution, as that's a bit of a cop out for a character that has had a starring role in two books, and has been explored in depth. However, Nemiel.

Nemiel still lives just as ferrus does as the headless shpaceeee marineeeee

I think I may have just resolved the Garro and Qurze mystery... I think we can all agree that whatever role they play will have some sort of closeness to the Inquisition. Well continuing a point I made in another thread about some chapters being retconned in 2nd founding chapters I decided to do abit of research into which chapters might get moved to this era just for fun. One thing I couldn't help but notice is that the Red Hunters are rumoured to be a 2nd founding chapter. (Unconfirmed) Therefore I believe that Garro will go on to be the 1st chapter master of the Red Hunters, which fits in with James Swallow's claim that he will not become a Grey Knight.

That is a good shout. The Red Hunters are one of the few Chapters to worship the God-Emperor, and Garro seems to be leaning that way as well. May be a coincidence but they featured in The Emperor's Gift a year or so ago, written by ADB who is on the HH team. A bit of foreshadowing perhaps?
