*Furyou Miko
So, the GKs have a thread for this, and the Apocalypse has one disguised as a thread to complain about apocacheese. The Thousand Son forum has one, kind of, but it's limited to Ahriman. Lets swap some war stories. What are the most awesome moments, the most badass incidents, the most touching losses we've seen as members of the Adepta Sororitas? I think one of my best ones has to be Celestine under the old codex going up against Ang'grath (the giant bloodthirster) in single combat and murdering him (admittedly after hitting him with a vortex grenade). greatcrusade08
we have a celestine thread, but this is cool too as it coveres everything. i havent played too many games wth my SOB yet, mainly becuase i havent built thier vehicles. but in one game i had a battle conclave and jacobus kill off several death company with chaplain in one go and then jump on and do the same to a full ten man assault squad with chaplain. it was an awesome two turns :P DCA are hardcore Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/254064-crowning-moments-of-awesome/#findComment-3083777 Share on other sites
Jacinda
In praise of the unwanted, I want to share a story about a pair of Penitent Engines. This was a few months ago in a "friendly" game against some orkz. He is one of the garage night regulars and we have played together alot. He loves his defkopters and he hates my Exorcists. I knew what he intended to do; he would run defkopters flat out along each table edge and assault my Exorcists on turn two. A few truks would be placed up front as targets for my Dominions and he would save his main HQ and battlewagons in reserve with lootas packed in a squad a mile deep to shoot up anything that got out of a vehicle (namely, my melta mamas; aka Dominions) Knowing him, I took a couple of PE and put them front and center. Everyone knows that PE are easy kills. He had other things he felt were priority so why worry about a couple of open topped walkers? It was perfect. Turn 2 I'm tearing through his boyz in the middle and turn 3 I laid 4 heavy flamer templates over his precious lootas before chasing the survivors off the table. He had to put his battlewagon and nobs against the PE to stop them from chewing up his army in a hurry. They did go down, but only after ripping through his army and doing some serious damage to his HQ and nobz. And there is the cunning of the Penitent Engines. Those things HURT if you let them get in close. Everyone knows they are weak, but if they ever forget that weakness is just on the defense, the PE will quickly remind your oponent of his error. WarriorFish
I don't seem to witness many spectacular events with Sisters. All I have to offer is a squad of Battle Sisters beating an Avatar, Phoenix Lord and Genestealers to bloody pulps in CC without any FPs in separate battles. It's all fairly run of the mill stuff mostly (including Exorcists whiffing their rolls, which I count as normal). Nice to see some glory for the maligned PEs, for me they make excellent fire magnets... Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/254064-crowning-moments-of-awesome/#findComment-3084744 Share on other sites
Azezel
I have two stories. The first concerns my Canoness, Sarasvati Luceo. I invite you to picture the scene Just a mortal woman, armed only with her faith in the Emperor and her Eviscerator, the Million Voices. Standing alone amidst the battlefield. There is an unholy roar and the earth shakes as the leader of the enemy forces, nothing less than a Daemon Prince charges down on her. The towering, tainted beast strikes out with its terrible claws and though they'd tear through tank armour effortlessly, she is unscathed by its assault, even as she strikes out with the Million Voices, cutting down the daemonic superman where it stands. The battle is over in a moment, the beast's charging momentum carrying it into the ground by her feet. To put it simply, she was charged by a Daemon Prince, which through Spirit of the Martyr, failed to wound her at all. She did two or three wounds in reply and combat resolution finished it off. T'was a shocking turn of events, but very fun to picture. The second story concerns Sister Superior Nike. Sister Nike had been elevated to Sister Superior only that day and given command of a ten-strong squad of her sisters for the purging of an apostate Marine chapter. It came to pass during the battle that Squad Nike were defending a key point on the battlefield, ordered to hold it at all costs when five Tactical Marines assaulted their position and slew every one of her sisters. Nike alone survived, fighting against five Astartes war-gods. It was as fierce a battle as was ever fought, but truly the Emperor stood at her side that day, for one by one with her brand-new Eviscerator she cut down each and every one of the traitorous Space Marines. Thereafter she named that blade Explicit Heresius - 'Heresy Ends Here'. I've never fielded an unpainted model - and this was Nike's first game, I'd only finished painting her a few hours before the game. Her squad were holding an objective and were charged by a combat squad of Tactical Marines which very handily killed every Sister but Nike. Over the next three or four turns, she made every armour save (no power weapons in the Tac-Squuad) and killed every one of those Marines with her Eviscerator. Hellios
1,500pts vs Tri-raider khorne list... Exorcist 1 shoots at raider 1 and destroys it... Exorcist 2 shoots at raider 2 and destroys it, exorcist 3 shoots at raider 3 and destroys it. What you should take from this is that traitors never prosper. Also yay for getting a load of 6's on turn 1! Oh and the Saint killing 75 IG and contesting an objective held by another 40 or so... I thought that was good. Also contesting that objective in the last turn changed a draw into a win for me. *Furyou Miko
^^; I usually roll badly for my Sister Superiors' saves, but Azezel's story has reminded me of the time that a lone Battle Sister (she might have been a bolter-Dominion) survived an assault by.. I think it was Chaos Space Marines, and proceeded to hold them up in a stalemate for three turns before the Chaos Lord himself stomped over and spitted her out of sheer frustration. I should add that I don't find beating Guardsmen in CC a feat worthy of remembering though. You wouldn't boast about beating up a load of toddlers would you? :P I would add Tau to that list but they deserve everything they get :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/254064-crowning-moments-of-awesome/#findComment-3086416 Share on other sites

WarriorFish
I beat up my nephew this weekend gone, does that count? He deserved it though for saying Ponyo was boring. Had a squad of retributors stand and hold the centre of the table in an epic 6 player battle before as my team almost entirely came on from reserves. These games were basically Apoc before GW published the book so it was about 3000pts a side I think. Aside from surviving the battle relatively unscathed they did a fair amount of killing too. I was going to add Celestine as an honourable mention for always getting back up again but since the requirement for that is being killed first... WarriorFish
I like to imagine it as in Monty Python where she keeps getting up again with quotes from the not-quite-dead man. You run the risk of the game getting derailed for a few minutes as everyone starts quoting the Holy Grail though. *Furyou Miko
So I came late to a participation game in store today - the prequel game to our 6th edition campaign. Starting at 500 points, it's an escalation campaign (gaining +500 points per month). I resign myself to simply watching as the Imperials get slaughtered (1 Space Marine army and 1 Grey Knight army (Draigo and 3 Paladins, woo...) by a collective 1500 points of Necrons, Orks and Tau when the GK player begs the staffer running the game (using 'running' loosely) to let me join in and rescue them. He OKs it - the mission is the Relic mission used in this month's white dwarf, and the Orks have the relic on a Deffkopta (long story). I bring on my two Battle Sister squads, immolator and Celestine. Celestine wounds a deffkopta, and my melta squad and the immolator kill half the Necrons on the board (yay for AP4!). In the next turn, Celestine and the melta squad finish off the Necrons (I tank shocked them into assault range!)followed by my flamer squad wiping out the Tau's troops choice. The lone surviving Grey Knight (Paladin banner-bearer) kills a deffkopta, forcing a break test... which he failed, dropping the relic and fleeing off the same table edge he had to carry the relic over to win! Snatching a draw from the jaws of defeat (one more turn would have let us win, dammit!) because there were now NO enemy scoring units on the table, wiping out the necrons and Tau... all in two turns. Emperor, but I love Sisters at 500 points! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/254064-crowning-moments-of-awesome/#findComment-3093875 Share on other sites

*Furyou Miko
My Sisters carried themselves admirably yesterday, however the crowning moment of awesome has to go to Sister Morla, who upon losing her entire squad to Dark Eldar heavy weapons fire and suffering a technical problem with her Exterminator proceeded to put her faith in the Emperor and not only survive, but break and wipe out a trio of the Dark Eldars monstrous fleshbeasts single-handedly before moving into cover and destroying their Raider with her holy bolter! (Or: He hit her half-strength squad with three dark lances, three disintegrators and a liquifier gun before assaulting the survivor (a Sister Superior with a combi-flamer) with a 3-strong wrack squad. I rolled 1 hit and failed to wound for overwatch with the flamer, then passed something like twenty armour saves over two rounds, killed a Wrack, they failed their morale and ran, rolling a 2 to escape (I rolled a 3) and were cut down! Massacre move into cover, then rapid-fired my bolter at their transport and killed it with a pair of glances (and a pair of failed flickerfield saves). It had already been damaged, but still... wow. So she has a name now!) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/254064-crowning-moments-of-awesome/#findComment-3110211 Share on other sites
WarriorFish
Nevermind a name, she needs promoting! The Emperor's gaze was surely upon you, as the sun shines on the righteous the Emperor bestows victory on the faithful ;) I really need to get some 6th games going but I've been so busy lately I've not had the time to read the rulebook (is it officially dubbed the BYB?) as much as I want. Raven Angel
Got a story from a long time ago. While not a victoy for the sisters it was truly a horoic last stand. This was about 3 months after the 1st necron dex droped back in 3rd ed. I was a fresh player runing a sparkinly new necron army as part of a mega battle with 10,000 points on each side. On our side was 3 2500 pt necron armies and 2500pts of Iron Warrioes/Death Grard mix. On the Imperial side where 2500 pts each Space Wolves, Flesh Tairs, Blood Angels and an Ordo Hereticus strike force. For thoughs that don't remeber that it's an SoB Drop Pod army with 1 inquisitor in it. The story was that the Imperials where making planet fall to wipe out the Chaos foces and awakend a Tomb World of the Night Bringer. The SW held the left, with BA/FT holding the center. SoBs where going to drop in center right and tri and roll up the flank. Things didn't go well for the Imperium almost rom the start. Bad scater and reseve rolles left the sisters cut off on the far right facing off against Chose heavy armor and Plauge marines. By the end of turn 3 the Night Bringer had slaughtered 2 huge Death Companies(13, 11 models respectivly) and a Wolf Gaurd detachment and their Wolf Lord. The battle on the right side devoled down into a series of rolling assults as the sisters tried franticly to avoid being shot to death by massed bolter and gauss flaer fire. When the battle, which had started at 10 AM, ended at 3 AM the next day only a hand full of sisters where left and all the SM where dead. Even so the SoBs had managed to kill a LR, a Basilik, a Monolith, most of the Chaos Marines, and most of my Necrons almost single handed. They fough well and earned a special kind of respect that day. Sarducci
My two favorite moments of awesomeness were under 5th edition with our Witch Hunters codex. First, after constant harassment, agreed to a 10,000 point per player 4 man Apocalypse Game. The winner was the most enemy points destroyed divided by your points killed. I repeat. I did not want to play, but did anyway. My force: Inquisitor Lord, 3 meat shields, Rhino, and, if memory serves correct, about 120 various orbital bombardments. The other was a local tournament where I was a "filler" in case there was an odd number of players. I brought a fun force of Karamazov, 9 penitent engines, 3 units of 6 arco-flagellents, and a few basic sister squads to fill out the list. I wound up tabling both a demon army and a space wolf thunderwolf army. I did tank the third game against a kid playing marines, though.
