Crowning Moments of Awesome

Recommended Posts

First, after constant harassment, agreed to a 10,000 point per player 4 man Apocalypse Game. The winner was the most enemy points destroyed divided by your points killed. I repeat. I did not want to play, but did anyway. My force: Inquisitor Lord, 3 meat shields, Rhino, and, if memory serves correct, about 120 various orbital bombardments.

Hmm. Next time I get invited to an apoc game (ha ha) that isn't at the store, I might try the old "but the WD update sucks... pretty pretty please can I use the old book?" just to play that list!

"It's the only way to be sure."

In the old codex when the sisters where still Witchhunters. I had took a elite inquisitor with the sole purpose of having the Caldius assassin. I was just seeing what it could do. I went up against a Khorne army. The guy got the berserkers quickly to me, summoned up the Bloodthrister. I got lucky the assassin came in on turn two. The assassin, single handley beat the snot out of the bloodthrister, and 2 squads of berserkers. It was great. Had someone watching the match, going that thing is so cheesy. I was ya its 120 points, with like 2 wounds, and if I remember a 5 up invul save. Catch her out in the open, and she dies fairly quickly.
I hope you took the opportunity to put on your best Inquisitorial voice and declare Exterminatus, death warrant of an entire world, a million souls to oblivion, etc

No, but I did bring about 120 5" Large Blast Marker so there would be no arguments about if I used them all.

Only time I ever beat the Grey Knights.

Battle Mission, kill the daemon host or whatever it's called.

Mordrak and his boys (warseer list) vs a mech Sister list using Codex: WH (this was before the WD update).

When the battle was over, there were 5 models or so left of GK and about the same number of Sisters. My daemonic Canoness had beated Ghost Knights, Terminators and PAGKs like they were made of paper. Even with all the GK anti-daemon toys she survived and kicked arse, thanks to a Blessed Weapon and a Rosarius (and the anti-ID item, I've forgotten the name).

out of the two Iwould take the Witch Hunters codex because repentia could be 10~20 strong, We had some BIG guns, and a few extra units. I like the fact that pretty much everything we have including tanks haves a 6+ invul save with 'Sheild of Faith'

As per the topic: Most awesome thing for me with sisters happened in a game I posted a battle report on. Sisters vers Chaos. Half my army shot at a squad of Khorn Zerker's and only killed two (I roll bery bad) They assaulted and slaughtered a whole squad of battle sisters and didn't take ANY unsaved wounds. My St. Celestine then pops in and wipes the whole squad out in a flame attack then assault not taking a single wound. She gets blasted by a Laz-Cannon and insta-dies. Next turn she gets back up right near another full untouched squad of Khorn Zerkers and wipes them out also in one turn with a flame attack and assault. She killed two full squads of Khorn Zerkers in two turns.

Most epic moment for my canoness was with the witchhunter codex.

I have a canoness equiped with a Blessed weapon. She's with her celestian squad engaged in melee with an eldar avatar.

Over 3 rounds of combat the squads get whittled away and all that is left is my canoness facing the Avatar alone and no more faith point for the invulnerable save.

Start my turn, both he and I know my canoness will die during the assault phase since she's no longer able to take a save on the attacks.

I start moving my squads in defensive position, including a lone sister superior that was the sole survivor from her squad after her rhino exploded and the rest of her squad got killed by concentrated fire.

I move her back through the wreck that was her rhino, to hide in cover, take a dangerous terrain test and fail! The Sister Superior ends up Martyring herself by throwing her body into the flames of her Rhino which gave me the faith point I needed to prevent my canoness from dying. Not only did she survive the fight, but end up finishing the Avatar in close combat.

That was a few years ago and my friend is still traumatized about that turn of event and will complain jokingly about it every so often ;)

Mine happened a couple of days ago using 6th ed rules. We were playing turn five and the victory points looked about even, I was a couple of points ahead.

My opponent, playing blood angels, had the last player turn so decided to go all out on a squad of battle sisters who were stood on a 2 point objective to try and steal the game.

After the combined fire of a stormraven, 4 plasma cannon devs, 4 rocket launcher devs and a squad of snipers only 3 stalwart sisters remained. Queue the charge from the assault squad that had dropped out of the stormraven! It was looking pretty grim.

In the worst set of dice rolls I think I have ever seen my opponent failed to kill a single sister in cc. So my 3 sisters reply by slapping down 2 blood thirsty super humans, causing the rest of the assault squad to chicken out and run full pelt towards their own deployment zone!

Needless to say after a considerable amount of laughter I've decided those three girls deserve a bit of a promotion!

The two times that it is most certain the Emperor was watching involved regular battle sisters against heretical guard (clearly heretics or they would not have fired back!), and tyranids.

Against guard, a squad found itself unfortunately out in the open. All transports were either immobile or destroyed, and there was an objective that had to be held. No terrain was available, they had not been fast enough to reach cover before mass fire from the remaining guard began to fall on them. So, they did the sensible thing and went to ground for a measly 6+ save against the high ap shots raining down around them. I then proceed to roll enough 6's to keep a few alive to move onto the objective forcing a draw.

Against tyranids it came down to the final turn. The big beasties had finally managed to clear distance to the objective in my area. The Seraphim had already performed exceptionally by completely clearing one of the three objectives, but were themselves unable to capture it, leaving us each with 1 objective. My only remaining scoring unit (as they had been consistently focused on) was down to 3 models when the high toughness close combat monster charges. I let my faith weaken and assumed the game was lost, but the emperor protects even in our momentary doubts. 3 attacks from 3 models, needing 4+ to hit and 6+ to wound against a 2+ armor save and 3 wound model. I proceed to hit with every attack and roll 3 sixes to wound, and it then fails all 3 armor saves. We both are stunned as the sisters stand triumphant over the vanquished xenos monstrosity. The 2 remaining seraphim then run all out to contest the other objective for a win.

>> Going to Ground in the open does literally nothing for Sisters except to cripple their response abilities.

Against the Tyranids is a more inspiring story. Battle Sisters seem prone to these kinds of incredible feats of heroism!

Another crowning Moment of Awesome, although perhaps less so than some.

Yesterday, a Heavy Flamer Sister splashed thirteen orks with her weapon, and wiped out the entire squad including wyrdboy, winning me the game by opening up a clear march straight to his objective.

I honestly expected to kill most of the Orks then die to their assault. ^^;

Back in third edition. The Order of Eternal Vigilance were fighting alongside Ultramarines against Chaos Marines.

My HB toting rets were holding a wood on one flank. CSM assault troops were heading straight for them. The UM player told me to 'stand back' while he handled it.

After two rounds of my Rets watching his TACs getting their butts handed to them they charged in and wiped out the remaining Traitors.

In 5th Edition....the fact that a friends Defiler began to flee in terror from my Seraphim superior and her Eviserator of Slow But Certain Chastisement because she ended up killing so many times.

Played against a Space Marine army this weekend. Regular opponent, usually a good game. On the bottem of turn 1 he hits my 9 woman Celestian Squad with 4 plasma cannons. No significant deviations, 14 hits. 5 wounds (9 1's) and I made 4 6+ saves. He picked up his army, and mumbled something about mascara of invulnerability. To be fair, by this point he had 2 units break and run off the board, including his libby and chapter master. I did mention this was the bottom of turn 1. He did treat for lunch, though.

Less of a Moment of Awesome on my part and more of an Embarrassing Fail on his, but;

Game today against space marines... a Captain and a Tactical Terminator (the rest of the squad were hand flamered to death last turn) assault a squad of Dominions that's rolling up his back line.

I declare Overwatch.

Roll 3 6s with my Meltaguns.

He fails his 5+ invulnerable and the terminator dies.

He passes his first 4+ Iron Halo save.

He rolls a 1 for his second Iron Halo save.

The Dominions then hold against 15 Tactical Marines that also assaulted in support for 2 turns and win me the game by tying up all but 1 of his scoring units over a single 3-point objective in the Scouring.

Have only been playing SoB for a short while, but these acts of intese heroism under pressure seem to be frequent.

My favourite moments would be.

During a doubles tourney we had to pick a target as a secondary mission. I chose a Leman Russ in hard cover and made a visual image in my head of my exorcists weapons mistress opening the hatch and pointing directly at her target. One shot one kill.

Playing a friendly game vs DE. Saint all by herself baiting some fire power. Flyer comes in from reserve and pumps everything into her.... she saves everything , and inspires the nearby emplaced lascannon team to reduce the flyer to shrapnel.

Sister superior using her experience to give aid to a single remaining meltagun equipped sister. Reduced Lemartes to slag upon his commitment to an assault charge , thus protecting the objective.

Lone sister superior with meltabomb held high in full speed charge towards a librarian dreadnought that had just downed two exorcists. With prayer of divine guidance bellowing from her lips, she placed the deadly charge upon a slight chink in the dreadnoughts sarcophagus, saving the remaining sisters on their newly exposed flank.
