Stercus
Ok folks, this is my first attempt at posting images, so forgive me if the photography sucks/links dont work etc. These should be/are the first two combat squads from my DIY Gatekeepers chapter. I have them pegged as Fists successors from a fairly recent founding. Hopefully you'll be able to view the images and let me know what you think. First combat squad. Second combat squad. Hellios
I like the chapter markings.
Stercus
Thanks. The design is a fist holding a key. I was going to use transfers and then add the key in with paint, but it ended up being easier to just freehand it.
Kierdale
Very nice work! I too really like the chapter symbol. Excellent work there. Could we get some close-ups! The highlighting on the armour is well done, and the plasma gun's coils/vents are a really nice blue. What else do you have planned?
The_Chaplain
Thirding the comment that the chapter icon is inspired. Looking at the marines again, those are some nice highlights on the models too. Overall, they look great, you should feel proud. What else do you have planned? Seconded.
Stercus
Thanks for the comments. I'm fairly happy with the paint work. It's reasonable tabletop standard I think, if nothing fancy. The squad there are the first finished models, but I've got nearly 2000pts in progress. I'll post some more pics later today.
Olgerth Istaarn
Great job there, very neat and nicely understated. These Marines aren't going to a parade, they mean business.
Raphiel
Looks good! I like the scheme. We need more DIY chapters in the Hall of Honor. :P

Stercus
Ok everybody, heres a few others that have had the finishing touches. First up is my assault termies. These will either ride in a land raider when attacking enemy positions, or arrive via teleport as a counter attack unit if im feeling more defensive. Next are my sniper scouts. These guys are objective campers. Occasionally they carry a teleport homer or melta bombs, but their main job is to hide on an objective and not die. I've quite a few others in progress and some vehicles, but they're a way off finished yet. Im quite pleased with the colour scheme. I think it works well for a chapter who although they are businesslike and not flashy, still keep their armour in trim even in the roughest warzone. Thanks for looking. Ecritter
They look great, only have one question. What is the blue stuff coming out of the back of the bolter of the marine with the grenade?
Stercus
The tac sergeant? Its one of those loincloth things made of leather straps from the commander sprue. It's hanging on his hip as a sort of rank marker. (and it covers a really badly done join where i spilt glue on the top of his leg!)

(and it covers a really badly done join where i spilt glue on the top of his leg!) thought it'd be something like that, just with the angle of the pic it seemed to be coming out the back of the bolter. Grotsmasha
Hey dude, thats some really nice painting! <_< There's two things that stick out for me, firstly the Tact squad eyes, they need a little more contrast like your Termies have. Secondly, the inside of the mouth of your Termi sgt, again both minor nit-picks, but considering the skill you've demonstrated (free-handing the sweet chapter badge, for example) leads me to believe fixing these is well within your skill level. Cheers, Jono
Stercus
I think you have a point about the faces. The tactical squad guys could do with an eye highlight. Need to get a new brush first though, the ones I have from GW are great, but only for about a squads worth of painting, after that the bristles go to crud. I've some devs and an ironclad dread in progress at the minute. (dread has a thread in the WIP forum if you want to see). Hopefully I'll finish them up this week. Kierdale
Good work! Nice bases, I must say. Not over the top. And I particularly like the sniper with the pistol. Great pose.
AngryJohnny
I really like your scheme & your chapter symbol is excellent. I just wonder if you have considered a darker blue, more of a dark sea blue, might work better with the green & the white chapter symbol would pop more. but they really really nice. Very well painted.
Stercus
Thanks for the comments. I did try a darker blue based on the necron abyss foundation paint, but I found it washed out the general tone of the models. The bases are one-piece resin casts that I bought online, then I've painted them with the new gw textured paint, drybrushed & added the gw grass tufts. I was put onto the tufts by a staff member in my local store and I found them dead easy to use. It's the first time I've done anything with bases apart from flocking them and I'm quite pleased with the effect. I'll be posting a few more models in a day or so, but after that there may be a hiatus as I've ordered a stormeagle from forgeworld. It doesn't really fit with my chapters siege theme, but I really like the model!
Stercus
Latest additions to the Gatekeepers fourth company: Captain Agamemnon Trisk and his command squad. Captain is one of the heroes of the chapter models with a head from the ven dread kit a weapon swap and a storm shield made from a dread faceplate. Company banner. Group shot. All models are tweaked in some way, mostly kitbash, but a few extra parts added in or modified. I may go back and add a few extra highlights and so on, but I have a stack of other models to finish, so these are pretty much done for now. Kierdale
At first I thought the marine on the left had a tankard in his right hand! :D Trying to out-drink those dirty wolves and he has a guilty look/pose as if his superior caught him in the act. The command squad looks great!
Stercus
Haha! No, I'm afraid the only thing he's drinking in is the sweet smell of barbecued tank!
