CML or AC

So after finding some killer deals on some terminators I've decided that i'm going to run a loganwing for the next tournament at the shop i usually play at. I'm thinking mostly frostblade spam with either missile launchers or AC on every fifth model. It's 1776 points btw. The thing I'm trying to decide is whether to take CML's or Assault Cannons. I was leaning towards the missile launchers, mainly because it lets me not worry about taking long fangs and leaves room for more terminators. The way i figured it was I get to add a cyclone missile launcher to a terminator for 30 points, it gets 2 shots per turn. for 25 points a long fang only gets 1 shot. The only thing is the one assault cannon terminator i usually bring just seems to be lucky (causing mephistons storm raven to crash into a firey heap after boosting). So I'm looking for help from my fellow wolf brothers. On a side note, i was thinking of making a Wolf Blade themed wolf guard unit.

Well, don't forget that CML is not only 2 krak missiles. If necessary, it puts down two small blasts of frags as well, so in my opinion CML is more versatile. In addition, You can shoot a stormbolter with CML, whereas with AC you don't have one (it is replaced by AC).

jeske is straighforward as usually, but let's not forget that these are the final days of 5th edition and we don't know yet the AC/rending rules in 6th.

thanks for the replies everybody. I was leaning towards the CML's that just means I'll have to get a few more as I'll only have 4 CML terminators. I can't wait to see what's in store for 6th. Although I'm sad the space wolves don't have any access to the space marines flyer. how disgusting would that be with scouts coming off your opponents board edge?

As a long time (is that possible...??) Logan Wing player let me just regale this tidbit:

CML are really good, but do not replace the fire power that a 140 point LF ML pack can. Lots of TDA is super sweet, and looks really cool/intimidating on the table, but they need fire support. You have quite a few high costing single wound models.

Unless they flip the AC and the CML, my bet is that the CML still stays the boss heavy weapon.

End of Line

I think that if you're rocking a TL AC then the rending is still really good since you have four rolls that can be re-rolled to hit that six.

I didn't play in fourth, so I cannot comment on the rending ability, and it's goodness.

The Assault Cannon is much easier bit to get a hold of, if that sways your decision at all. :)

Edit: Is it my new laptop that keeps :cussing up lately, or has anybody else noticed weird things like the above and a lot of double posts??!!

Because you only get one heavy upgrade for every five models. And the two weapons are drastically different.

The assault cannon has a shorter range and is considered more of a dakka weapon, where as the missile launcher has a longer range and is able to provide decent anti infantry support AND anti vehicle/high AV.

Personally, I only use the AC on packs that I pod down in front/side/behind of units I plan on annihilating right away, or in a Land Raider. It's a much better assault weapon due to it being twin-linked and rending. The CML offers up additional long range support for me.

But don't forget that the SW AC just looks plain sexy!!! And yes...hold of on the final decision until 6th.

I often include the AC WGTDA for this exact reason, the model looks boss. However the CML is more versatile, and can work at a short or long range.

Will be interesting to see if they change up the AC/CML rules in 6th though, as said above, you may wanna wait and see what happens there before modelling. I recently finished magnetising my wolf guard, and would heavily suggest doing that, just cos of the sheer amounts of options you can take with them (and ill often sub one out to fill a TDA lone wolf role too)
