Brother Samhain Posted June 16, 2012 Share Posted June 16, 2012 It's really a wee bit sad, cause if I had found out about this just a week earlier, I would have had 5 terminators and 2 additional tactical squads I could have added on here. As it stands, here is what I have commited to my vow! <Started>Company Veterans Squad of 5,Sergeant with Power Fist and storm shield,4X DA’s with storm bolter <DONE>2 Tactical Squad units of 10 DA’s each,Sergeant with melta bombs,flamer,Missile Launcher (each unit) <Started>Assault Squad of ten models,Sgt. with melta bomb,2 DA and Sgt. with plasma pistols At 810 points total So really, none of this has been started at all. Other than the Veterans, all the rest is still attached to the sprues! I also noticed I was missing one small but crucial element, which were actual plasma guns... so picked these up today: http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/jj248/falldowndrunk/Plasma.jpg These guys need a wee bit more mold lines removing, but are about ready to go: http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/jj248/falldowndrunk/vets.jpg And this, this is kind of a mess, but whatever, it'll get done soon enough! http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/jj248/falldowndrunk/Sprues.jpg A few things to note on the side: I'm not actually going to get the backpacks started quite yet. I currently have 50 DA specific backpacks on their way to me, so I should have those in about a week. I'm hoping to also get DA specific shoulder pads in, those should be about another week or two as well before they arrive. Fingers crossed! I do a small variant paint job on my army, nothing major, I just add a bit of gold around the trim of all my shoulder pads, and on kneepads when applicable. So once I get to that stage, don't be alarmed, that is supposed to be there. :D I'm hoping to have most of these assembled and primed, and hopefully have the first couple coats on them this weekend. One thought though, I see the plasma guns but I only see plasma pistols on the vow! am I missing something? heck of a vow regardless. good luck. Fortunately, I did have some plasma pistols lying around, sooooo, looking on the bright side, I now have plasma rifles in case I need them for a second vow! Mind you, I still need to do a few touch ups on these guys, I usually do that once they are completely assembled though. ;) Also, apologies, as a couple of these are a wee bit blurry. Ya know, I never really thought about putting the squad markings on there, seeing as how are my own little successor chapter, but I do have a ton of transfers I haven't ever really used. But hmm, I mean, if enough people say the gold on the knees is kind of iffy, or looks off, I may actually change them back to green, or possibly black, then add a decal? (It's painted well, but seems a bit much) I would recommend it as a company badge on just one knee. Or if you like it on both, I would go black and then add decals/transfers. Just an opinion. I don't feel I am very good at it, or at least not exactly where I would like to be, so input of any kind I welcome. And after messing around with the SM painter, I do see what you mean by the gold may be a bit much. I changed the knee pads to black, and also changed the chest emblem to red, to tie it in a wee bit better with a more current DA themed colors, and liked the result a whole lot better. Changing the knee colors on the rest of my already painted army won't be much of a problem, the emblem's.... eh, end result will be worth the time. First pic is just them based, a couple of them have green on them cause I realized I forgot to take a pic of them before I started. The first set of ten that I have previous of are now almost complete, although I did make slight goof: I forgot to put in a Sergeant! I'm working on him with the rest of the second squad, of which I'll have pics up of their status shortly. Here's a few pics of the (near) completed squad, still need to do the basing colors but the models themselves are done. First, a group of them all: A slightly closer pic of the fronts of two of them: And an odd pic of what was supposed to be the backs, weird autofocus though make the guy in the background the star of this pic: The other group of ten look nearly the same exact way, but don't have the backpacks on them yet, and still need some touch-ups.
