Ultramarine Battlegroup

Recommended Posts

Greetings Battle Brothers :tu:

Im new to B&S and have to say i've been really inspired by the great builds logs on this site to keep cracking away on my Ultramarine force. Having read the Fall of Damnos by Nick Kyme, i wanted to build an army based on the survivors of Damnos.

Im writing up come fluff to go with my army and hopefully ill have that up soon ;)

Ive already picked up:

X2 tac squads (one will be a strenguard squad)

X 1 Razorback

X 1 assault squad

X 1 Captain

and in time i plan to pick up:

Drev squad

razorback & rhino

dreadnought

honor guard for Captain

Been working on my company Captain for a while and itsnt Captain Sicarius in my Fluff something befalls the good captain :)

Captain Scipio: equipped with power sword, bolt pistol and iron halo

i'm really digging the razorback, the weathering looks nice :)

not a fan of your captain though, i think the blue powersword is too much in tone with the rest of the mini and therefore doesn't draw as much attention as it would in a contrasting color. furthermore his groin area looks a little crowded with oath papers in my opinion.

- Wicced,

thanks for your comment, glad ya like the razorback had a lot of fun painting it up, and i feel all armor vehicles need to be weathered and damaged in my army as it gives a little interest to the overall paint job

as for the powersword i must agree with you on that one, there was always something i was unhappy with his finish, now i think its the sword drawing too much focus away from the mini, im thinking of repainting it a black, with light grey high lights and white or red power lines running the length of the blade

that might brake up the figure a bit more and balance him out. i think ill keep the oath papers on his waist as i want him to stand out a little, but the sword i think ill redo

thanks for your comment

cheers

Howdie all

got another chap turned out today, the first of my tac squads starting with the sergeant armed with a trusty power fist ready to punch any tank right on the snout

http://i1192.photobucket.com/albums/aa334/longlance67/P1100961.jpg

the laurel took me an age to get right but it was worth it at the end as it gives my battle hardened Sgt. the mark of battle hardened veteran.

the mini was painted using Citadel and Vallejo paints. Model was undercoated Vallejo flat black over chaos black which has a glossy/satin finish to it.

1. The basecoat was a few thin layers of Mordian Blue followed by a wash of Drakenhof Nightshade

2. First highlight was Ultramarine blue

3. followed by a wash of heavily water flat black

4. then another highlight of Ultramarine Blue and a hard edge highlighting with a mix ultramarines blue and vallejo sky grey

5. the gold areas where based with vallejos light brown and then picked out with brass and washed with Seraphim Sepia

6. the helm was based with model colour dark red followed by a wash of Agrax Earthshade and highlighed with blood red, the eye lens were picked out with model colour olive green

7. Bolter was painted flat black, the metalics were picked out with model colour oily steel and washed with earthshade

didnt realise that there was so many steps till i typed them out hahahah :P

more to follow soon gents,

cheers all :tu:

Hi,

Did some fluff for our rocket specialist hope yee enjoy ;)

Brother Titus "the reckless"

http://i1192.photobucket.com/albums/aa334/longlance67/P1100967.jpg

Being first squads tank popper, Brother Titus earned himself the nickname "the reckless" after an action on the Forgeworld of Specter Prime where elements of three great companies including the Second, Forth and Fifth deployed by drop pod to counter a large chaos assault on the planet. As the Ultramarine battlegroup numbering 256 Battle Brothers began to retake the worlds primary industry zones. Titus on his first engagement as a full marine found himself alone having survived his drop pod being shot down by ground fire. Salvaging a missile launcher from wreckage of his mangled pod. His own bolter a twisted ruin from the impact. He set off alone to avenge his fallen Battle Brothers.

Stalking the building and catwalks that overshadowed the battle zone, he hunted for enemy armor who by now had liberated several Baneblade super heavy tanks from the planets vast warehouses. Singling out these iron monster which was in process of wiping out Ultramarine frontline he with his lone missile tube began a duel with the beast. And was successful in disabling the tank by dropping the building in which he was positioned on top of the tank by firing his only Krak rocket into one of the damaged building's support columns sending tonnes of rumble and him along with it raining down on the charging tank. Titus survived the collaspe which was withnessed by many Battle Brothers in the second and forth who's position the Baneblade almost destroyed only for Titus reckless and quick thinking. Though three decades have passed when a dust covered, semi conscious Titus was pulled from the rumble. Reckless has lived up to his title on many a battlefield.

hope yee found enjoyed that :D

Brother Syth, thanks for the comment and kind words, im not a big fan of GW decals as there not the best quality and have a nasty habit of silvering and not conforming to the models surface. But what a way around this, is to first coat the area with matt varnish or what ever sealer your using, the using decal setting solution to get them to set then another coat of varnish and bobs your uncle ;)

HJL, thanks for the support mate, glad you like them mate :o

nearly done with my next set of marines so ill have photos uploaded soon

cheers,

BA.

I like Brother Titus' fluff, not sure if it's very codex and Ultramariney, but its fun and I like it.

Cheers,

Jono

EDIT: Just realised, Brother Titus, Ultramarines 2nd Company, does he have a promotion in his future I wonder

Grotmasha-

really glad you liked titus's back story, i know he's actions are not fitting to the codex but thats what makes for fun typing for Titus as a character. Titus's traits are his ability to think outside the box and not conform to the codex but rather come up with things on the fly. He's based losely on the captain of fourth great company during the Hersey who displayed the same traits.

But as you spotted there could well be a promotion for Titus that will lead to many a argument between more traditional brothers ;)

glad you like his fluff i have more on the way

cheers,

BA.
