Myxx
So I thought I was going small for the 2012 LPC with one Coteaz, 2 henchman warbands and a rhino (see my sig for how THAT worked out)... So I went even smaller for the ETL, and have plans for more vows to come. Initially I weant for a Techmarine with Orbital Strike Relay and a Rhino (the one I bought for the LPC and never even got off the sprue). Halfway done, here is my first kitbashed techmarine... wearing the red of Mars, the AdMech cog on the left and a Ultra symbol on the right. A few WIP picks, including a pile of bits, some primer work, and partially built. Now for the finished photos. I am fairly happy with this one. He has only the sword and bolter, but for the OSR I figured some aerials would be good, as well as an auspex in his mechadendrite, servoskull, and a Tau backpack that looks kinda like a 1978 portable phone (ala Lethal Weapon). Also, a metal servoarm and a pair of plasma pistols for a unique servo arm. And for the first photo of the Rhino, still on the sprue. Hopefully more to come. Any C&C is appreciated. Contrary to what my wife thinks, I am not a very good painter and any help would be beneficial. Thanks. Here is the finished pics of my Rhino, to close out my initial vow for the 2012 ETL. I really like building and converting models, but painting them is my Achilles heel. I have been trying new things (washes, dry-brushing, transfers, freehand, etc.) in an attempt to increase my skill level. I don't think my painting is good by any stretch, but I think its good enough that a casual viewer can understand what the model represents. So, here goes... From the front, with the "extras." I made 2 front hatches, one with the pintle mounted storm bolter, one without. And the rear hatch. (I'll be adding a Razorback turret in the future.) Front, with rear hatch and storm bolter hatch in place. Interior of the Rhino, painted. Left side, with freehand Inq. symbol on the door. Right side, trying to paint the Inq. symbol around the footholds was an interesting task. The rear hatch, with the large Inq. symbol. Definately not great, but on the tabletop, I think everyone will know what it represents. So, there she is. Note the name plate on the front "FORMOSA." She was initially intended to be the chariot for my Lord Coteaz (from this years previous LPC.) Comments and critiques more than welcome. Myxx
Hot on the heels of completing my first vow, here is the WIP for the second, a kit-bashed Draigo. I see Draigo's primary characteristics as 1. a big sword (the Titansword), 2. a right-handed storm bolter (near as I can tell, only Draigo and Crowe have em), 3. a storm shield (the only dude in the whole Codex, I believe). The torso and arms, pre priming (the humidity is too high to spray right now). The sword and right handed SB, made from a standard termie right-handed SB. The shield. Made from the termie right arm and the tilt plate from the NDK. More to follow... And now some pics of the completed Lord of Titan. Vow Complete! Myxx
Here are the WIP photos of my third ETL vow. It's small points wise, but I want to add them to my army and I figure the ETL is as good an excuse to get them done as any. I got a few of the old epic Titans, a handful of heavy bolters form SM attack bikes, and some paint... And done... Third vow down, fourth maybe? Ten days to go... Kierdale
Nicely done! Love those old knights...and a great idea using them as servitors! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/254257-myxxs-etl-2012/#findComment-3142035 Share on other sites
Myxx
Vow #4... and so it continues... Ordo Malleus Inquisitor with power armor, Demonblade and hellrifle. So I figured I'd throw one together with some bits from my box. A BT torso, some legs, a cape from some WFB kit, a kitbashed Hellrifle, one of the swords from the High Elf Prince on Dragon, and a head from an Empire Knight (I think). I figured the High Elf sword looked suffiently "different" from most of the typical power weapons and force weapons. Cape and tabard seemed like a good combo for an Inquisitor. The hellrifle looked better in my head, but I think it gets the WYSIWYG across. And the Empire Knight head looks angry and a tad smaller than a SM in power armor. So overall, not bad IMO, but we shall see when paint gets put to plastic... Vow #4 complete! I wanted to do black cloak and tabard over a glossy red armor (think laquered). Didn't quite work out... But I think it gets the point of an Ordo Malleus Inquisitor with a hellrifle. I actually like the sword scabbard, that now you cant see because of the cloak. For the scabbard, I painted it in elf flesh and a dark fleshwash, then put some fine black stitching across it, I figured a Demonblade would have a scabard made of Eldar skin. Stupid cape...
